Object Properties locks up program

HELP!! My WB 18 suddenly started locking up when I would look at the properties of ANY object. I tried all the common sense things, and even went as far as to BUY the version 20 (even tho 18 worked fine) But even the 20 version is doing the same thing, The site loads, and I can move around in the site. but if I try to tweak the settings of an object it locks up, and the only way out is to end process in Task Manager. It will not even load the properties, it sends the curser to another screen and the whole program locks up. HELP ASAP!!! I

First note that version 18 has not been changed recently, so if that version suddenly stopped working then it's most likely an issue with your system configuration.

Maybe your firewall is blocking the software? Add webbuilder.exe to the exception list.
Or maybe you have save the project on a network drive but did not set the appropriate permissions? Move the project to a local folder to see if that works.
Or maybe you have enabled automatic backup, which may take some time for larger projects? Disable automatic backup.

Or else to do a reset of the settings in Tools -> Options

If you need further assistance, then can you please describe the exact steps to reproduce this behavior?

I am stil having this problem. SO after trying all the easy things, I REFORMATTED my laptop and loaded a fresh copy of all. Everything worked fine for an hour, and then it went back to the same problem. THIS IS CRITIClL!!!!

When I try and look at the properties of ANY item, (a text object, a form, a photo) the whole program loocks up.

Just to help diagnosing, did you verify all suggestions from Pablo?

If as you mention you are having the same issue with both W18 and W20 then it will highly related to a issue on your PC. You havent said what operating system you are running or specifications or what version of the software 32-bit or 64-bit each of these could effect how it runs. Can you please provide what operating system of Windows, memory and software version of WWB so to be able to help.

This is not a complete answer of what is asked above. Please review the questions as they might shed light on what the problem is.

IF I press escape now, I can unlock it.
It is like when I double-click on an item to see its properties, it opens a window SOMEWHERE that I cannot see.
And as such, the progranm is iocked unless I hit escape.
I have tried looking at all windows, I am not fidning it.

Yes I have tried all Pablo suggested. I do not use a network drive. I have turned off my firewall.

As asked by BaconFries, do you use the 32-bit or 64-bit version of WWB and how much memory does your computer have?

Apart from what I previously asked are you perhaps using the likes of presence sensing, or dynamic lock or even a third party application that locks the use of certain applications that only you have access to if on a shared PC. Note it is difficult to help you if we don't know what you are using as I have never read in the forum that the software locks and then by pressing "Escape" it unlocks to be able to use.
