Prevent PDF downloads

Post by dmkiveli »

Hallo.
I have uploaded my website. However there are links to some PDF files which can be downloaded. How can I set them up to prevent downloading or copying but allow reading?

Kindly help.

There is no way to prevent the PDF from being downloaded, because for the browser to be able to read the document it needs to be downloaded first.
So, if the visitor can read it then the file has is already been downloaded.

As Pablos reply there is no real way to stop it being downloaded. Not taking anything away from his reply maybe the following might offer a solution. Note even if this works a clued up person (computer savey) could still download the pdf or even just use screen print to copy and save.

As a alternative you could use a image instead and overly with a watermark just enough to allow them to read but put them of from copying...just a idea
