Full page in brrowser

Post by F Paul »

V18 Trying to create new site, when I preview the page it doesnt go full width on screen.
Previously created sites do go full width when previewed or published.
page is set to 970 wide and set to centre horizontally, a full width header will only show
in the middle of my screen and not full screen wdth.

To be able to help you, I need a DEMO project (.wbs file) so I can see all your settings.

I do not need the complete project because that will only take more time to figure out what you have done.
Basically, I just need a small project with one page and object(s) that are relevant to your question.

For further details about how to share a project file, please see this FAQ:

It's hard to say anything really without knowing how you created the header.

I have resolved the heading by using a layer but still not displaying correctly for me. In the builder the logo is far left and the menu and image is far right but when previewed or published, ther are gaps on each side.

What were you expecting to happen?

If your default view is 970px wide and you are centering the page, then all the content will be within that 970px width centered in the browser. If your browser window is bigger than 970px then there will be equal space on both left and right sides which is what I see. The logo and menu are at the far left and far right of the 970px page you created. So it looks correct to me.

I though as much! So what would be the ideal width to set the design page to? , I have tried 1400 which seems to be ok

I set my default to 1920 as that is the size of a standard Full HD monitor. That should cover the vast majority of desktop and laptop views. While I use ultra-wide monitors personally I have not changed my default builds to expand that much.

The only way you can fill the entire browser screen at all times is by creating a fluid design and using layout grids, flex containers or flexgrids. Otherwise, there is always, at some point, going to be spacing on the left and right side depending on the size of someone's monitor.

In your example, using 1400px is fine until someone's monitor is bigger then they will see spacing on left and right. I would see that on all my screens.
