Use of Canonical URLs feature

In Google Web Master Tools, i've set the non www version of my site as the preferred url with respect to the canonical url crawl issue.

Should I still set which version of the page's url should be canonical in WWB seo section?

Also while using the Bing Web Webmaster Tools, I don't find a way to set preferred version of the site as canonical. Anyone does this in Bing?

I'm sorry, my knowledge about Google Web Master Tools is very limited, so i cannot give you any meaningful advise about this.
