Safari,inline frames and CSS menus

Post by alan_sh »

Pablo,

Not sure what is going on, I need to do more checking, but...

I have pages which have a master page linked in. In that master page, I have a CSS menu. If I have a normal page which has an inline frame referenicng an external http address (such as google maps) and I use Safari on my iPad to view those pages, then SOMETIMES (ugh), the CSS menu doesn't respond to a touch. If I then press the back button and go onto the same page again, then menu works OK.

I don't get this issue with Firefox on an iPad.

Does this ring any bells?

I do have "Enable Safari mobile fix" set on all the inline frames.

cheers

This is most like related to the fact that touch devices do not support 'hover' effects, so the first click is ignored because it will only set the focus to the menu item. The second touch will trigger the link.

But it only happens on pages with an inline frame in - and only in Safari. Everything else works fine (just tested in Chrome)

Maybe it's related to http vs https links?

Or Safari may remember the focus state when going back, so tit will treat the touch as second click.

They are all https links. Does this make a difference?

You wrote:

Which made me think that maybe you used http instead of https. For inline frames this makes a difference.

Ah, I see.

I've checked it all, and everything is using https.

I've also done a complete new upload and I cannot reproduce the behaviour. Everything seems to be working.

The site is https://test.giantsseat,org.uk if anyone else with an ipad wants to have a go (with safari).
