Wide Screen Monitors

Post by peters »

The monitor at my workstation I upgraded to a new wide screen monitor supporting a suggested default resolution of 3840 X 2160. From my desk I generally remote into my 3 main servers using Remote Desktop. With the ultra-wide settings, I can have all 3 servers up in remote desktop windows side-by-side.

My strange issue is as follows. If I remote into my development server when I have WWB installed and click on any component such as textbox, editbox, label, etc. The size of that component clicked on with automatically resize itself generally making the item higher. So a textbox set at a height of 27 will auto-resize when clicked on to become a height of 30 +. If I try to reset the height back to 27 it will immediately change back to the larger size.
If I change my main workstation wide monitor resolution to 2560 X 1600 or lower and remote it; clicking on an item the size does not change and the item retains its proper height setting.
This behavior only happens with my desk computer monitor set to the ultra-wide resolution setting of 3840 X 2160.
The main reason i got the wide sized monitor so I can remote into my development server, my Sql-Server and web-server at the same time and have all 3 up and running within remote desktop sessions side by side. As things are now, I have to decrease my new monitor to a non-ultra-wide setting.
I have tried all settings in remote desktop; scaling, best fit, full screen, etc. I tried other remote in software as well; TeamViewer, UltraViewer, AnyDesk and the same thing happens with these remotes in software as well.
I have subscription licenses for both TeamViewer and UltraViewer so the issue not due to running the freeware versions of these packages.

What I suspect there is something in WWB that does an automatic resize of items to better match the font type and size. I just don't know where to turn this setting off in the WWB?
if there is no such setting in WWB then possibly this could be put in for the next upgrade release of WWB?

Over and out!

Maybe you have not enabled high DPI support in Tools -> Options -> User Interface?
Or else try the standard Windows DPI compatibility options in the Application properties.

WWB does not have any logic to change the font size automatically. It intentionally leaves all font related scaling to the system.

Have you tried to Adjust RDP Client Settings?

Thanks Pablo. I had checked that option and I believe that is the default settings when WWB was first installed, so I never changed this setting. However, I missed the Clear Cache button and clearing the Cache resolved the rendering issue and the items being resized.

Many thanks!
