Import .html webpage crashes WB17

Post by Fredl »

Hello,
I'm trying to import a page as the basis for a site but WB17 crashes every time, I have even used Firefox's "save page as" feature to get a local copy but it crashes with that copy also. Is there a trick to making that feature work? I looked at the code and it is a regular .css layout, no sign of WP.
Thanks for any tips you can provide!

First note that the import feature was designed for basic pages with text and images only.
Most modern websites use JavaScript and grid systems, which cannot be imported because there is no way convert this back to a project structure.
However, the software should not crash. When this happens this is most likely related to your network configuration (Firewall, virusscanner, IE setup).

When you say WP you are referring to Wo*dPr**s? if so then it is not possible see reply from Pablo

Is it possible to move a WordPress site to WWB?
No, that is not possible.
WordPress stores its data in a database on the server, because it's a content management system.
WWB is a web design tool.

Yes, that is what I meant by WP, I looked at the code in notepad before posting my question because of course that wouldn't work, nor would I seek assistance with that bloated mess.

Thanks Pablo, I'll just use the example site as a guide and use WB17 to recreate the basic feel and layout.

It might be worth passing the file to Pablo anyway as WWB shouldn't crash and he may be able to see what's going on and cure it.

@alan_sh my reading of this is that the op has saved the page locally as html from a Wo**Pr**s page/site using Firefox 'save page as' and not a .wbs file. He also mentions the the source code is bloated so when trying to bring into/import WB it may simply be also trying to import any javascripts/jquery files as well which could be the cause of the crash so I doubt there's not much Pablo can do to fix external source code that crashes the program. But maybe his wisdom is greater and can fix.

In terms of redesigning a website from W**d**Pr*s I think I had some one who wanted to do something similar also and which is to import the site to wwb which never is or will be ever possible to do as the import feature was designed for basic pages with text and images only.. You might have to put some skills to replicate the layout or design with the features and functionalities which WWB provides and recreate it. If you need help redesigning and recreate your webpage from WP to WWB then there are some WWB web developers here on our forum who might be able to assist you on this according to their time and service. If you need assistance on rebuilding the site kindly inform.

BF, I still think WWB shouldn't crash if it encounters invalid code. It should go to an error routine. So, it would be worth the OP posting what caused the crash for Pablo to look at.

Cheers
