project wont load correctly if missing extension

Post by GrahamW »

Hi Pablo

In V16 if you have a missing extension it alerts you to say what is missing and gives the option to open it without the extension then it gives a message to say the project cannont be loaded correct and it still opens but most of the content is missing.
I tried it in V15 and the project loads ok with a missing extension when you click on yes. Has this changed in V16 or have I got another issue going on.

Basically you should never ignore this error because a missing extension can lead to data corruption.
Only the extension knows what to do with the data so if you continue without the extension any data that is loaded after the extension may be misinterpreted.
This has not changed since previous versions. Only the message you get may be different.
So, you will need to install the extension before you continue.

Hello,

From my perspective the best way to not get errors is to copy all the extensions you had used to make the project and keep the my document WWB profile backup which is located in C:\Users\User\Documents\WYSIWYG Web Builder. copy the entire folder and keep a backup of all the old extensions dividers or anything etc.. extra. In that way when you install the new version you can just copy the BACKUP of the C:\Users\User\Documents\WYSIWYG Web Builder of the previous version and paste it in the newer version at the same place.

When you install the new versions of WWB remember that WWB updates are 99% compatible in most case 100% if there are no major changes in the build of the software. So there may be some bugs but won't cause big issues. So giving a clean installation is sometimes necessary and sometimes it is not depending on crucial situations where there is no clue what happened.

Most Welcome.

thanks Pablo,

I will try and contact the person who made the extension for the template I purchased and see if he will sell it to me. Every time I try and purchase an extension from him he just refunds me which makes it hard
