iPad enlarging fonts

Post by oldwebman »

Two of my websites that used to display normally in Windows and on my iPad now only display correctly on Windows. The iPad display has enlarged font sizes which causes overlap. The pages display correctly for a second and then enlarge both menus and text blocks. I have tried changing the defaults font settings - with no improvement. Is this problem known to other forum users?

To be able to help you, I need to see what you have done.
What is the URL? And where exactly on the page do I need to look to see the problem?

Note these type of issues are usually cache related.

Hi Pablo. I now find that the problem is only with Chrome on the iPad. Safari works fine. (fonts behave better since uI updated to WYSIWYG WB V15). I am familiar with the problems of clearing the cache as my frequent updates often don't display until these have been cleared. I even cleared the browsing history. Refreshing the page doesn't work. If you are able to use an iPad to view https://northbeds.camra.org.uk via Chrome I would appreciate it. The heading overlaps the subheading and text is enlarged and so overlaps other text boxes. I believe you have found a fix for Safari as I recall seeing a new tick box somewhere to activate it. Many thanks.

It seems to work fine on my iPad Air using Chrome (and Firefox and Safari) both portrait and landscape.

It looks like you have configured to use Google Fonts.
However, the used fonts are not actually Google Fonts. This means that the browser will use its default fonts.

Obviously I have misunderstood how to set the font settings for Google fonts. The website was created originally in V11. You have now added a new Google Fonts button to the Tools menu. If you add a font from this list - and then select the Options button on the Tools menu, and go to the Fonts tab, you can select 'Use Google Fonts for non web-safe fonts'. If you select 'Manage' below, a small font list appears but with none of the fonts previously selected shown. Is this buton redundant or do you have to reselect them? As I am using a Master frame for the heading section of each page perhaps the font generation isn't happening when I upload a page?
