In the properties of the flex grid you can set the border for each cell individually.
- select the cell
- click 'Style'

Please see my screenshot with Settings. I can't set the border in merged cells.

Please click 'Style' to set the border properties of the selected cell.

=) Ok, nevermind. I see You won't understand me. Just try to draw the line between merged cells. It's impossimble. I solved this only by drawing image background with the fake line.

@Lemoner,

The answer to your question is you can't. Once you merged the 2 cells you no longer have a 'border' between them so there is no way via the properties to add a border in between. The solution you came up with is the one I would have suggested.
