Site previews locally but has issues after uploading files

Post by skanaba »

Hello, I am working on a website using WB14 and am puzzled. I preview locally and everything was working well for some pages and not for most others. I uploaded the site so that you can see what is going on, some pages have a narrowed header image with the content area picking up a black background from somewhere... Here is a development link for the site:
https://mediapeopleintl.com/clients/TRA ... index.html

The home page looks ok...but if I look at it at a smaller screen size, it appears that the content place holder on the master page is adding a scroll bar to the content area. Same thing with the Join TRAG page. The master page has the content place holder set to: Overflow - floating,
Alignment - center, and Repeat - do not repeat. This format has worked on other projects. If you go through the other pages, these all show a narrowed header image, and black background where there should be white, and the content area is shifted to the right.

https://mediapeopleintl.com/clients/TRA ... ctors.html
https://mediapeopleintl.com/clients/TRA ... ctors.html (this page looks ok the layout is no different than the others!)
https://mediapeopleintl.com/clients/TRA ... urces.html (headline with anchor links are ok but content below is centered and shifted to the right)
https://mediapeopleintl.com/clients/TRA ... vents.html (text is centered and shifted to the right)
https://mediapeopleintl.com/clients/TRA ... ntact.html (text is centered and shifted to the right)
https://mediapeopleintl.com/clients/TRA ... olicy.html (text is centered and shifted to the right)
https://mediapeopleintl.com/clients/TRA ... olicy.html (text is centered and shifted to the right)
Any ideas why most pages are messed up? HELP! ...thank you! ...and yes, we did upload all of the files.
In case you need to examine the .wbs file: it is at this link: https://mediapeopleintl.com/clients/TRA ... -03-20.wbs

First note that you are using a outdated version (14.03). The latest update for WWB14 is 14.4
http://wysiwygwebbuilder.com/download.html

I looks like problem is related to duplicated IDs. I loaded your project in the latest version and did not see the problem, so I think you should first update to see if that helps.

Hi Pablo, Thank you for your suggestion. We downloaded 14.4 and it is doing the same thing...please review the list of pages on the previous post.
We uploaded the site to a new folder with today's date in the file name:
https://mediapeopleintl.com/clients/TRA ... index.html

When you mention trying it in the latest version...did you load the .wbs file into version 14.4 or in version 15?
Would version 15 work better? ....or what do you suggest. We thought of removing the master page and pasting the header and footer on each page....but we would rather go with the original plan.

By duplicate ID's could you be a little more specific? Are you referring to the file names in the Object Manager? We did try to build each page from a fresh, blank page. We did copy and paste a few layout grids which had similar info. Is this where the issue comes from? Where do I go from here?
Please help me understand what I need to do to avoid any potential conflicts. I plan on using your software to build more websites and would like to use best practices.

Can we please focus on one page at a time? it's very confusing for me having to go through this many pages, and it will take a lot longer to find a solution for you.
If you share a project then please remove all non-relevant pages from the project, so it's immediately clear where to look.

OK...since several pages have the same issue, let's focus on the Members page:
https://mediapeopleintl.com/clients/TRA ... mbers.html

The header image is showing red bars on the left and right. Don't know where that is coming from, and the content area now has a black background which should be white. And, the listing of members is shifted to the right and the text in the 3 columns should be flush left, not centered.

And when I view the Members page in Firefox and use the Responsive tool to view smaller screen sizes, a scroller appears within the window.
Here is the link for the current .wbs file: https://mediapeopleintl.com/clients/TRA ... -17-20.wbs
Hope this helps to identify the issue. Thanks again!

I downloaded your project and when I previewed the trag-members page, it looks correct to me. I dont see what your demo page is showing. I published it to a file and then previewed it and it still looks correct. Maybe clear your server of all the files and re-upload just this page to see if it works or not.

But do you mean the 'image4'?
The max-width of this grid is a set '1366' so the image will not stretch beyond this value.

Hello, yes image 4 should fill the 1366 grid from left to right. The image 4 is 1366x260 px Currently I am seeing red bars on both sides. I am using Firefox which is set up to clear browsing history each time the browser is closed. Here is a screen capture link:
https://mediapeopleintl.com/clients/TRA ... -17-20.jpg
You can also see the black content area below the image.

The behavior is correct. The maximum width of the layout grid 1366. And because the gutter is set to 15, there will be a margin of 15 pixels (or larger) at both sides.
The 'red bars' at both sides is the background color of grid.

The gutter width is set to zero "0"....to allow the image to fill the space and the background set to FFFFFF (white, not red). Did you have a look at the screen capture?

I'm sorry, but these are not the settings in the project you have shared.
Did you have a look at the screen capture?
Yes. But it does not tell me what the browser size is.

Pablo, the project size was set to 1366. Isn't that what is showing up with the project file? Here is the link to the current .wbs file:

I'm sorry, but I think it works as expected.
In this page "https://mediapeopleintl.com/clients/TRA ... mbers.html", the max-width is set to 1366 and the gutter to 15

If you want different behavior then you will need to remove the max-width property and gutter.

Hi Pablo. As mentioned, the gutter was set to zero and the max width was set to 1366. This link will show you the settings. https://mediapeopleintl.com/clients/TRA ... -17-20.jpg
And, this link at BrowserStack (a testing site) shows the issues on the page.

I hope that the screen captures help. Just trying to get to the bottom of the issues at hand. Thank you.

Hi Pablo. I just went to the following link, which is what is online...and is where the screen captures have come from (settings, and BrowserStack screen): https://mediapeopleintl.com/clients/TRA ... mbers.html
Pablo, since our last posting, I found that the text on the corrupted pages' object properties was not set to: "Enable Responsive Fonts". I am updating pages now, and find that the header image and black content area (where white should be)....is corrected! I had no idea! I am progressing with the updates and will get back with you.

OK...By enabling for responsive fonts, the issues that I had are now gone. I appreciate your help on this and I certainly will not forget to update the object properties for text! Have a good weekend. Be safe, be well. Steve K.
