links not working

Post by queenidog »

I created a page with 5 or 6 gif images on it (a Photo Collage), and linked those images to other pages. When I click the image (expecting to go to the linked page), all I get is a link to the IMAGE. I have tried everything to solve the problem, but everything looks good. I mean, it is so easy to just add a hyperlink and title to an image, it should JUST WORK!

I tried linking to "a page in this project", and can see the pages in Site Manager. I can open them up alone and they are valid. This method did not work.

So I tried linking to "file" which is the actual html file on hard disk. Doesn't work either.

I have this working on many, many other pages, don't know why this one is not working.

Did you set the 'Gallery Mode' to 'Use Links'?
See the help for more details.

Yes, of course I did. Either in Photo Gallery or Photo Collage, after adding images, I click on the image to get properties and there is the option to add a hyperlink. I point it to my html page, but it returns to the IMAGE.

I've since used plain Jane images in a similar fashion: these WORK...however when I publish to Internet, what I saw is NOT what I got.

http://www.raiderracing.com/MainPage/Fa ... dians.html This is supposed to look like the sample Photo Collage you supplied. It looks okay in the preview, but is real crap online. Don't know how to fix.

Still a problem with licensing: WYSIWYG logo still there.

This was all working fine before I did those updates. Tried to include screenprints, but system won't let me.

Pablo was referring to this:

You are correct in adding the links in the properties section for each photo but you must enable the 'use links' behavior for gallery mode.

What is meant by 'plain Jane images'? What was different about the images online versus in the workspace? Are you using quality images to begin with? Are the images too small and they are being stretched any? This will cause the images to pixelate. It's always best to start with images as big as you need them. Scaling an image down wont look bad but scaling up will.

In looking at the paint & easel, that image is a bit grainy to start with and it's being slightly stretched vertically so it makes it look worse. The actor picture is only 182px x 192px yet your stretching it to double its size. Of course this image is going to look poor. The images need to be bigger to begin with.

Thanks all for replying. I've been playing around more with Web Builder, reading more in the Help file and coming up with solutions. I don't have the linking problem anymore and my pages look fine as long as I stay away from using "straight" text, except for a caption perhaps or a title. I now use blog or article to do my paragraph text.

The new version 15 has bunch of new things that are great, and that version fixed some of my issues.

All is okay except for Global Replace which is a different thread I started only recently. I'm working on that one.
