editing inside text boxes

Post by Mick72 »

Hi. I'm using version 15 (from 14)
I am unable to edit existing text in my text boxes. I can delete but that is all.
What do I need to do to edit them?
I can create a new text box in version 15 but again I am unable to edit them.
What's happening?
Thank you
Mick

You can double click the text to go into edit mode.

If that does not work then can you please give more information about what you have done?

Tip: It is always a good idea to include a (stripped) copy of your project so we can see all your settings.

Yes I double click the text box. I can only delete text but I am unable to add.
The only way I can get it to work is to double click the text box (as if to enter text) and select 'Remove Formatting'
I can then edit the box but as soon as I come out of the box I cant go back and edit text unless I clear formatting again.
This did no happen version 14

An update from previous question.
I created a new project with just a text box.
I double clicked to enter ''edit mode'
Unable to enter any text unless I 'Remove Format'
as previous answer.
I am using 15.0.2 (64 bit)

I have downloaded your project but I cannot find anything wrong.
I can edit the text without any problems.

Which version of Windows do you have?
Do you have all updates/patches installed?
Is it possible your firewall or virus scanner blocks functionality ?

No one else has reported this issue so I am not sure if this directly related to the new version.

I am using Windows 10 v1903 (18362.175)
I use Norton Security
I reinstalled 15 (v.02) again and problem still exists on all the pages.
How can I roll my programme back to previous build (15)
Again I can only add text to a box if I 'Remove Format' first. I do not set up any formatting.

Do you mean that it worked in a previous version of WB15?

I do not see any problems in the project you have shared.
Can you please describe step by step how I can reproduce this behavior?
Again I can only add text to a box if I 'Remove Format' first. I do not set up any formatting.
Do you mean that you cannot type new text?
Can you see the cursor?
Do you see the textbox is going into edit mode?

Maybe you have another computer you can try it on so we can be sure this is not an issue of your computer only?

Or maybe it is relate to the font you have used?

I really want to solve this for you, but I need more information to be able to help you.

Dear Pablo
I'm sorry for not making this clear.
I uninstalled v15 and went back to v14 where I was able to create a text box and insert text accordingly.
I reinstalled 15 and my problems remain the same as before.
I click on the text book and can delete any text I want but cannot insert anything. To edit the box I have to right click and select 'Remove Formatting'. I can then add text. This has to be done every time I wish to edit an existing text box.
I can create a new text box and enter text but when I come out of the box and want to edit something in it I have to repeat the above.
I'm sure it work with the first v15.
I can confirm that I installed it on my laptop and the problem with text boxes does not exist.
The problem I have is that my work is on my desktop and its where I work from.
I am going to have to go back to v14 or just put up with problem with the work around solution until it sorts itself out.
I would be very interested if anyone else has this problem.
My versions of Window 10 and Norton are the same on both my machines.

When you say you 'cannot edit', what happens exactly?
What do you see?

Can you please try this?
Set 'EnableD2D' to '0' in the registry.

You will need to add it yourself.
Add 'EnableD2D' (DWORD) and set the value to '0'
