Pictures of photocollage aren't published if 'modified objects' are selected

I have a web site which has a page with multiple photo collages on. About once a month, I add a new layout grid with a new set of pictures. If I choose 'publish files of modified objects only', the actual pictures are not published. The poto collage is, the text is - but no pictures. If I do a 'publish all files', then the pictures do get published.

Before I create a small demo project, can you confirm that this is expected behaviour?

The software does not keep track of whether images in a Photo Collage are changed. Because that would require a lot of extra storage in the project file which would make the software slower.
This option is mainly for small changes, like updating text.
In general, if you add new objects or images then you should republish all files.
