Links work on desktop not on publishing

I have done several web pages with WYSIWGY 10 and 14. It has been some time since I have done one. I restarted a project and when I publish it locally all links work fine. When I publish it for the web I get a a "404" error. If I type .html after the address in the address bar, it will work. I contacted the hosting company and they came up with an answer concerning "files" which I knew didn't apply. I look at some of my previous webpages, that are active, on the hosting site and they look now different than the one I am loading. Any help would be appreciated.

Note that version 10 and 14 are no longer supported. However, they still works as they did before.

Maybe you have accidentally enable the option 'hide file extensions for internal links'?

Could it be that the older version was set to use .htm as the page/file name, and now when you republished, the pages are using .html
Just a thought to check
