problem starting wysiwyg 17. Win 11

Post by M0mgp »

WYSIWYG Webbuilder 17.2.1
Windows 11 v.21H2
Build 22000.675
Experience Pack 1000.22000.675.0
AMD Ryzen 5 5500 with Radeon
Ram 8GB
OS 64 Bit.

I click on the WYSIWYG 17 Icon and then wait up to 90 seconds for the program to load. If I double click the Icon then 2 separate screens will load, one in the background.

Deleted and reloaded the program twice and downloaded from the update link in WYSIWYG 17 once it opens.

Not sure its a bug or system problem, everything else is loading at lightning speed so I am at a loss.

Maybe you have enabled 'Check fir updates'? But the internet connection is blocked?
Or maybe you have installed a lot of extensions, icon libraries or fonts?, so it take a long time to load?

Thanks for reply,
Checked that I have not clicked checked for updates.
Internet operational and WYSIWYG not blocked from connecting.
Program set to load blank page at startup not previously used page.
Additional Info;
When I click icon the startup logo flashes on the screen and then the wait, funny thing though, if I open a browser window, WYSIWYG immediately starts up in place of the browser.
Still completely lost. Once loaded no speed or otger issues.

if I open a browser window, WYSIWYG immediately starts up in place of the browser.
This seems to indicate that it's a network related issue.

Are you sure webbuilder.exe is not blocked in any way?
- firewall
- virusscanner
- anti ransomware
- router

To repeat Pablo's question,
Or maybe you have installed a lot of extensions, icon libraries or fonts?

Jerryco;
Had been working perfectly last time I used it. No additional fonts, extensions or icon libraries added. Thanks for checking but this has happened from workingnperfectly at shutdown to hanging on next start up.
Pablob
Just checked all suggested
- firewall
- virusscanner
- anti ransomware
- router
no blocking at any point, specifically allowed and trusted where needed.
Hmmm, thought maybe I installed something since update to v17 but no.
Still lost, might try and roll back to 16 then update from there to see if that works?

When was the last time it worked correctly?

Does the software start faster if you disconnect your computer from the Internet?

How many fonts, icon libraries, extension do you have installed?

Are there any errors in the Windows event console?

For me, WWB start within 10 seconds the first time I launch it on Windows 11 (Intel® Core™ i7-7820HQ)
The second time its starts within a second.

Been away sorry for late reply.

Following your lead I disconnected my PC from the internet and WB starts within 3 to 4 seconds, I have double checked that updates on startup is not selected and other than that I am stumped.

Unless it is a windows bug which may be resololved in the new updates I can live with disconnecting the internet first rather than waiting.

I'm running WWB on Windows 11 and it starts really fast. I did have an issue of it taking 10-20 seconds with the network connected and that seemed to be down to the number of mapped drives I had.

Your issue seems to be different unless you have a really slow network. Do you have any other network issues. Have you tried disabling any virus scanners or firewalls you have (which one do you use?)?

Thanks Alan-h,
New laptop, one of only three programs installed other than the original software which came with the machine. Everything was working fine, no extra drives added, no updates other than WB which was working fine then this particular day I turn it on and this happens.

I have no network or internet problems with constant regular speeds of 65Mbps plus, so I just xannot fathom why turning off wifi allows WB to load normally but not when the internet is connected.
Baffling.

Have you tried rebooting your router?

WWB does not use your network, unless you have placed files on a network drive.
For example, maybe you have set the system folder (Tools -> Options -> Files & Folders) to a network drive.
Or maybe you have a project that links to images on the Internet (pixabay or unsplash)?

Pablo.
My windows machine is not connected to any external drives, clouds, dropbox or service other than email, search engine or of course wifi connection.
I also rebooted router just in case, as suggested, but no change.
Windows console not showing any problems and Ive not added any extra fonts but I have a Paypal and email icon that I downloaded 3 years ago and have used since then without problem.

The silly thing that bugs me more than the problem is the fact that last time I used it, all worked fine, the next time I turned it on there was the lag.

I will double check everytning suggested before anyone else spends time trying to assist just in case the idiot in me overlooked something simple.

Thanks for suggestions so far.

If this behavior suddenly started, then maybe your firewall or virus scanner was updated?

Pablo, do you use .net at all? There's just been an update for that for my WIndows 11 machine.

Having said that, mine is still fast to start.

OH BOI
- Improved: Fine-tuned the application initialization process to reduce the initial startup time.
Can anybody with problems regarding it try what 17.3 brings to them?

I noticed that. I'll load it up on an older machine and see what happens. Unfortunately, I don't have a slow network to connect it to as my SIM router is in my motorhome.

Of course, we could always ask Pablo what he did - Pablo - any answers?

Still curious for Alan's question? Is everything back to normal?

I'm still on 17.2. Now on holiday in my motorhome where I was having all the issues with slow startup. I have since changed to network drives, rather than drive mappings and it takes about 5 seconds to start - instead of 1-2 minutes like before.

I intend to upgrade to 17.3, but not till I get home at the end of the week.
