Re: WYSIWYG 17 slow load on win 11
Okay, bumped to 17.2.1, May 11 version.
No discernable change.
Loading is still fast - 2 seconds or less.
I'm willing to do other tests if needed.
PS:
Just thought I should add that I have no extensions installed.

Are you running with any network drives loaded on a slow network?Daniel Baran wrote: ↑Thu May 19, 2022 5:52 pm No suggestions to add; just a "for what it's worth".
I'm running WWB17 on a 4yo HP workstation that was upgraded from Win10 to Win11.
Not seeing this problem; load times are fast (2 seconds-ish).
Good luck,
DB

Re: WYSIWYG 17 slow load on win 11
WWB is installed on and loads from the local system drive (SSD).
There are several smb shares on a TrueNAS Core server on the LAN, but drives are not "mapped" as drive letters to the workstation.
The workstation is on a gigabit wired interface and internet is 500/500 (fiber to the closet).
Also, auto-update in WWB is OFF.
If I misinterpreted your question, or missed anything, let me know.

I think it's mapped network drives that slows things down - at least that's my interpretation of what I've seen.
My home system is similar to yours - gigabit network. Reasonably fast wireless (up to 500mb/sec depends how far I am from the router). Synology NAS. 600/42 internet connections. But I have 6 mapped network drives.

Re: WYSIWYG 17 slow load on win 11
I've never liked the way Windows handles mapped network drives.
A while back I discovered a different method that seems to work better.
Instead of mapping drives, I tried the "Add a Network Location" feature in Windows Explorer.
It might be good to "unmap" any drives before trying this method.
Click through the wizard, and add the shares as a network address.
Something like this:
\\192.168.88.249\ShareName
In doing so, the shares will show in Windows Explorer as Folders instead of Drives.
I have no idea why, but since changing to this, I find that the shares are always immediately
available, and the odd lags in browsing networked shares are no longer present.
Since this is on the Windows configuration side, I assume it should work with most any NAS.
This might be worth a try.
Even if it does not solve the WWB load time issue, you may find accessing your shares to be smoother (as I have).
Good Luck

I tried it and load time went from 9 seconds to 4 seconds. Thats with 6 network drives replaced by 6 network liinks.
Impressive.

The big test will be when I get it onto a slow network connection. I might try that soon - I have a mobile router lying around with a sim card.

Just done that test using my TP-Link mobile router. Took around 4 seconds to load.
So, as far as I am concerned, I've found the issue - it's the network connected drives. And we have a solution too.

It seems like this should probably be the default way to connect
local network shares to Windows boxes, but that Microsoft has
not done a good job of disseminating this method.
