Dear WYSIWYG Community,

I plan on using several photos on my website. I am aware that if I link to photos that this will not significantly increase the size of my project because they are hosted. If I select new photos from my desktop however, do these photo now end up in the larger project file and slow everything down? What strategies does everyone have when working with photos with this application?

Photos are not stored in the project file, they are copied the project folder.
Or if you disable Asset Management (in Tools -> Options -> File and Folders) then they will remain in their original location.
You can also enter an absolute URL in the properties of the image. But this will not make your project smaller or faster.

I am writing this because in another software application, as I added images, the software became cumbersome. If photos are not in the project folder this should not have too much of an adverse affect or should I make a point of uploading photos to a server and linking to them?

I wouldn't worry too much. If you go into tools -> Options and then select 'Publish', you can change what folders your images get stored in (default is 'images', I think). You can also change where other types of files get stored. So, for example, I have PDF files stored in a PDF folder. WWB handles all of this and uploads them to the correct place automatically (at least, it does for me)

What will slow down your web site (but not the WWB project) is the size of the images. So, if they are enormous (5-10mb for example), then it will take a while to upload them and your user/customer will see them loading very slowly. You may not see this on 'preview' because they are local to you and are not being streamed over the internet.
