Setting width of one side of a layout grid.

Hi Everyone!
New member and new to the WYSIWYG thing, I used to be a life long DW user however I have been out of the game for some years and now its a subscription based service I had to find some new software and settled on WYSIWYG
Anyways I am having a issue with layout grids.
I want to have a 1, 2, 1 layout grid (Header, side menu & content, footer) and I would like to fix the width of the left side middle row so the menu is always a set width and the content bit changes based on the screen size but I can not seem to find a way of doing this.
Could someone point me in the right direction please?
The reason I want to do this is by setting the grid to 1 for the menu it is to small and setting it to 2 makes it seem to big, I would like it to be just slightly wider than the menu itself.
