It doesn't sound like a 'responsive site" question, but since I work with layout grids, I allow myself to post it here. Apologies nevertheless

I wish to add a footer in a master-page before to construct it with layout grids.I checked forum, tutorials but I don't find my issue
In toolbox, I search for footer. I got it. But when I try to click on it, nothing appears. I thought maybe I had to put first a layer under it (with css3 output format), but it still doesn't show up. I can't think of what else to do except piling up layout grids till it reaches the bottom of my page (!), which then would not explain the usefulness of this footer tool.

Thank you but my question is even more stupid (I am ok with master-page technic). How to create a footer from scratch ? I can reach the icon "footer (the square with the thick blue bottom side) , in the toolbox. But I would expect my pointer in my page would then transform in a "drawing" cross, allowing me to use it as for a layer, layout, etc..i.e to draw the space (layer?) for a footer.

A footer can be inserted just like any other object: just drag & drop it to the page.

Then I have a problem ; it doesn't do that.

Wow, I have been working since a few weeks in a learning-applying circle. I kind of forget some stuff I have done, but I don't remember having made a footer before (I just piled up layoud grids!). Ok, sometime, experiencing helps finding a solution. Wait and see. Tks

A footer will always be added to the end of the page.

Ok, settled.
I had actually footer(s) but they did not appear on the screen, nor my pointer. FInally, checking the object managers, I discovered 5 of them (!) but transparent. I colored solid one of them in the properties and it was Ok.Thank you.
