Hi there,

I'm trying to understand why some object ID's are randomly changing, and only a select few, each time

For a rough overview of the select area, I have used layout grids (named as containers here), and my nesting of objects is as follows

- content_container2
- - inner_container3
- - - photo10
- - - text11
- - - photo11
- - - text12
- - - photo12
- - - text13
- content_container3
- - inner_container4
- - - text14
- content_container4
- - text15
- - inner_container5
- - - photo13
- - - text16
- - - photo14
- - - text17
- - - photo15
- - - text18

Although, seemingly randomly, only a select few objects will be renamed as follows

- content_container2
- - inner_container3
- - - photo10
- - - text11
- - - photo11
- - - text12
- - - photo12
- - - Text3
- content_container3
- - inner_container4
- - - Text1
- content_container4
- - Text2
- - LayoutGrid1
- - - Image1
- - - text16
- - - Image2
- - - text17
- - - Image3
- - - text18

So only those objects are renamed, and no where else on the page. But for the life of me I cannot figure out what is causing this - There are no other id's named like it, I've also tested with different id names etc, only for those to be changed back to the default too, and tried inserting new text boxes, images, and grids in their place for those to change as well.

My apologies if I am missing something here but I am at a loss why this is happening

There are no known issues with automatically renamed IDs.
IDs normally only change when:
- you make a copy of the object, in which case the new instance will get a unique ID.
- you rename the object yourself

I see, weirdly I had renamed these objects again, saved, and closed the program.

Upon reopening the program, the ID within "Object manager" shows what I had renamed them to. But the Properties Inspector shows the default ID's

If I am to then re-close and open the program again, these default ID's are in both locations

Do you have any ideas why this might be happening, even after renaming them?

What are the exact steps to reproduce this behavior?

I rename the ID's to how I wish for them to be.

I save the project and close it.

I reopen it, the miss-matching Object manager & Properties as previously described is seen.

I save the file again, and close it.

When I next re-open it, the wrong ID's are then applied to those select objects

I forgot to mention this before, my apologies. This is happening in WYSIWYG Web Builder 12.5.2, on Windows 10

Please note that version 12 is no longer updated.
The current version is 14.3.3

However to be able to tell if you are doing something wrong, I need to know exactly how you are renaming the ID and where you seer the wrong result.

I am selecting the object (text, photo, grid) and then going to the Properties (in the sidebar), typing in the ID I wish for, and pressing enter after




To the three text boxes, three images, and singular grid

Once I save, and close. I then reopen and I can see this conflict (Window resized to show it easier)



If I then once again save, close, and re-open the IDs have changed fully, and it's always the same objects

I was not able to reproduce this in WB12 or WB14.
Did you describe all steps?
Do you have the same problem in a new project?

I've not noticed this over 8 different projects, and from what I've seen is only happening on this page in this one project.

I will try a new project after this message and see if I can replicate it there

I created a new document, and decided to try importing the same page I was just previously having the problem with. I now cannot replicate the issue in this new file, which is a bit baffling if I am honest
