My Website

My Website And I Used WYSIWYG to create it

Some menu buttons were created with Vista Buttons

https://MyAAGrapevines.com/Website1.png
https://MyAAGrapevines.com/Website2.png
https://MyAAGrapevines.com/Website3.png

It Hosts My Collection Of AA Grapevines Dating Back To 1944.

1944 to 1948 AA Grapevines can be read online just click on a booklet and it will show you a PDF of the magazine.

My collection of AA Books is estimated at over $18,000

I don't sell anything or have any popup boxes it's just to show people my collection.

Take a look around.

It doesn't appear to be responsive. So, it won't look right on smaller machines or phones. You could consider looking at layout grids to help you out.

Also, your images are 3mb each. They take a long time to load. Consider reducing the sizes.

WWB has so many great tools such as cards that you could have utilized to reach a wider audience and grab their attention. I suggest you have a look at some other similar sites and see if you can get some inspiration and ideas. This my honest opinion. Sorry.
I am going to change over to Auto Thumbnail since that will create a small file to speed things up a bit. it is intended to allow someone to download a full Good scan, so there is no way around that part.

I switched over to WYSIWYG using the Menu bar, I resized some of the huge image files and reduced the size of the med-sized images on the selection menu. Got rid of the index page since it is no longer needed since you can access the images with the menu bar.

I am wondering if lazy load would help anything or not, I did not see any improvement.

not sure how I can improve "responsive" other than what I have done already.

Put everything in layout grids is one way. Another is to have different breakpoints with different views.

The menu looks nice now with the classic style but you can add some Image or two in the Home page and make it a bit bigger to take the screens full view. You can also write some more things in the page to give it some proper content. And would have looked decent if there were some image of people in RIP page. Overall still good I just think the page looks too short content without some images I mean we barely need to scroll the content is that short. That would be my personal opinion. Other than that nicely done.

I improved the RIP page, and added 4 pictures to it, enlarged the 1949 AA Grapevine on the main page, and added text for the mouse over "To Read This 1949 AA Grapevine - Click Here!". I also went back to the 1944, 1945, 1946, 1947, and 1948 grapevines and put the message on the small images to tell the reader to click on the image to read it. I am thinking I may go back to all the pages and put the text for the mouse over to tell the user to click on the image to make it bigger.

Thanks for your input.

I looked at the 1944 issues and - apart from the 'not published' ones, they are all the same, not monthly issues.
I looked at the 2020 issues and they appear to be monthly covers, but clicking only gets the option for larger cover picture, not to actually read the issue.
I did not check all years.

Also, I like the page turning effect, but was confused by getting a repeat of all pages again after reaching the last page - until I realised I was reading the same pages over and over I thought the issue was double or treble in number of pages. Should page turning stop at last page?

I know you are working on things at the moment, so you may already have these errors in hand.

Nice work!

I think that the limited 'flipping' is now better, and I now realise that its only the earlier years that have viewable contents - I should have looked more closely at the intro text.

I also see that the viewable issues are NOT the same - as I thought because the thumbnails are not immediately different - so perhaps you might consider overprinting the thumbnails with 'January Issue' , 'February Issue', etc so that its easier to identify them rather than by reference to their positions?

Don't you love people who offer suggestions that involve you in lots more work?

Hi. I clicked on this link, http://www.myaagrapevines.com/00_TheBig ... pBook.html and went through 10 or 15 pages. There doesn't seem to be an easy way to get back to the main page of the site without clicking back about 15 times, or going to the browser address and removing "/00_TheBigBook/FlipBook.html" then hitting enter. It might be nice to have a "home" button on all pages or a logo that you could click that would bring you back to the index. Thanks for sharing.

1. added a link to all my pages to "Built With WYSIWYG Web Builder".
2. fixed a problem with the dropdown menu getting lost.
3. I found out web bots like google like the web page better if you use heading sizes 1, or 2.
4. found out some crawlers will not crawl sites that don't have an SSL Certificate.
5. tossed out the gold image of the website name in favor of Heading 1 size site name.
6. Bought A SSL Certificate for the website.
7. added a footer.
8. found out broken links may affect your site ranking.
9. there are 6060 files on the site, all of the links were checked and all broken links were fixed.
10. if you click on the logo on the home page all AA Grapevine 969 book covers were added to pageflip.

I think the site is really cool.
I dont know what the specific publication is, but preserving and archiving old media is important I feel.

I like you can simply click the arrow and go to the next cartoon. It goes one, by one, and it would be easier on my end if it cycled in threes.

One tedious workaround to the image size is simply link at the bottom, "click here for full resolution image", then create a page they KNOW will take a moment to load.

The grey menu at the top... look old and somewhat fits with the site. Old stuff feels 'buggy'. I love it or hate it, cant tell.

When I shrink the browser, three pictures remain side by side...mobile design usually has them stack.

need basic navigation, home page link for certain. I was afraid to leave the home page, that I might not find it again.

Needs basic SEO. Make sure people who might want to find something like this on google can find it. This means predicting what they might type, then having those words (text) somewhat present on the page.
You wont get search traffic with only images.

I actually only put the Prev/Next buttons when I was testing the menus. and I just left it on since it was easy to get around.

It's gone and replaced with another menu.

@KingSparta There is no mouse wheel on a Mobile/Cellphone or iPad or Andriod Tablets as these are all touch screen devices and use a finger(s) to control the content of the page. So the images should stack one on top of each other if proper breakpoints are applied to allow this or if they are used in a Layout Grid/Flexbox and nothing to do with mouse settings.
