MP4 video does not play

Post by jwellbelove »

https://www.etlcpp.com/video.html

I have a video on this page that will not play correctly in any browser I have tried.

Edge does nothing at all.
Firefox plays the audio, but no video.
Google Chrome plays the audio, but no video.

The file name of the video is FB1Ad.mp4 (no spaces or non-ascii characters)

Any ideas on what may be going wrong?

Perhaps the file is corrupt? What was the source material and can you export it again (with other software maybe) to see if it makes a difference?

The video is a part of a Facebook advert and plays fine online.
It also plays fine locally (but not as a local web page preview)

The video was created in Sony Vegas.

Note that the video will be published "AS IS". The software does not change it in any way.
So, if it does not play then the format is most likely not supported by the browser.

Thanks, I'll try rendering it with another mp4 encoder

On viewing the page source you are using the media player for playback. This is not ideal for all browsers with that said I would recommend that you change this and use the HTML 5 video instead and only use lowercase for naming of the file.
