AVG and Hot Fix 09/14/2020

Post by andyp »

FYI

Windows and AVG do not like the latest hot fix.

Even adding it to exceptions in AVG is not working.

I can get round this by uninstalling AVG but thought I would provide this info.

Thanks for the information.
However, there is nothing I can do about this.
This is a bug in AVG so only their developers can solve this.

You can switch off AVG and simply replace the EXE or run the setup and once finished, switch it back on. I run AVG and there is no issue. You may also want to add it to "White List" if presented with one.

Hi Guys,

I know running antivirus etc comes down to person choice - but why not just run Windows Defender with a Malware bytes malware?

Agree with Colin... I have only used "Windows Defender" since Windows 10 was launched. Not even "Malware bytes.... software"
So far so good

Hi Guys,

Just thought I'd ask the question out of curiosity. I've run Avast and AVG in the past when MS dropped the ball on their antivirus software. But when MS decided they were going to get serous with the launch of W10, combined with the intrusiveness of AVG and Avast, I well and truly ditched the idea (and need) of them.

Now Avast will put a hit on me

WD checks all. I have several evidences for that. In the first year after Win 10 was launched it was a little rocky. Now is real stabile and secure.
But it doesn't protect against stupidness :D

Hi. We use F-secure and after latest update we got malware and the option to quarantine or delete a number of files. Problem is that it is all about wysiwyg files.
My girlfriend hasn't deleted earlier installation files from wysiwyg and f-secure claims there is a malware problem with version 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15.
Does anyone know if this is an f-secure fault or for real?

f-secure claims there is a malware problem with version 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15.
There is no "Malware" in any of the mentioned versions. F-Secure is generating "False" positives to resolve you are required to add WWB to it list of exceptions (whitelist) or please contact F-Secure and bring this to there attention to resolve as it is a issue with them.

Thanks I'll mention it for f-secure. I'm sure we're not the only one getting false alarms.
