Internet IDS error ****SOLVED****

Post by Fredl »

Hello all,
I need to edit a site I built a few years ago, I'm on a different computer now. I opened the project file and it reported that an extension was missing, and to install it before opening the project. When I go to install it I can't because WB15 cannot connect to the internet. I have turned off the firewall, since it was already in the list of programs being let through the firewall, but it still doesn't work. Does anybody have any tips on how to connect WB15 so that I can fetch my missing plug-ins?
Thanks in advance!

Note that if you cannot connect then this is most likely a firewall related issue.
For example, if you have BullGuard then more steps are necessary to unblock the connection.
This is not directly related to WWB because the software cannot bypass the security of your system so the only way to solve this is by making sure the network is setup correctly.

Alternatively, you can also download extensions manually.

Thanks Pablo,
I'm not aware of anything changing on our network since I last used WB15, but it's possible our ISP is blocking something now that it wasn't before, do you know what ports are used, and what url the program is trying to reach?

WWB uses standard http (port 80). The URL is http://extensions.wysiwygwebbuilder.com/

Note that this has not changed for years.

Thanks Pablo, with that info I was able to determine that the site wasn't reachable from my end, I swapped out the DNS server from my ISP to Google's 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 in my connection's IP v4 properties and it works as it should. Thanks again for the prompt answer to my question.
