Started 1st Day, but will no longer load.

Post by matt_ortman »

I used the trial version of WYSIWYG Web Builder for a couple hours, then decided to go ahead and purchase it. After registering and restarting it, I used it for a few hours more. Shut WYSIWYG down, shut down my computer and went to bed. Several days later I came back to use WYSIWYG again, but it would only hang on the splash screen. It doesn't even put an icon in the task bar unless I click the splash screen and task bar a couple times.

According to Process Explorer (Like Task manager) it is using 50Mb of private memory and 68Mb of Working Set memory, but no processing time. If I continue to click on the splash screen or click the icon on the taskbar(after forcing the icon to load), Windows gives the "WYSIWYG Web Builder is not responding" error and offers to close WYSIWYG or wait for it to respond.

I have since completely uninstalled and re-installed the software and it still does the exact same thing. Starts the splash and stalls with no processor usage. I also uninstalled, rebooted, re-downloaded, re-installed and rebooted, with the same results.

System is a 24inch HP touchscreen, with Windows 10 Home, Intel core i3-8130 @ 2.20GHz and 8Gb of RAM. Nothing has been installed, nor has anything been updated (to my knowledge, but it IS Windows...) since I installed WYSIWYG Web Editor.

There are no known issues with latest version. And as you can see on the forum, it works for all other users.
Are you using the latest update?

Or maybe your firewall or virus scanner is blocking access?

Or else remove this registry key so all settings are set back to their default:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Pablo Software Solutions\WYSIWYG Web Builder 15

Why would it work at first and then stop? I'm pretty sure my firewall/virus scanner didn't decide to stop it a WEEK after it was installed... I need an actual intelligent, thoughtful answer, not boiler plate one size fits all answers. You have my money, I need the software functionality I paid for.

The only reason I bothered posting is because as the programmer, you know what it's looking for when it first starts. I don't I don't know what you wrote in your code. Is it looking for Java runtimes, is it trying to load something. I don't know. It's whitelisted with my firewall and virus scanner, which I'm NOT at ALL comfortable with. For all I know, I just wrote your WYSIWYG virus a blank check inside my computer.

I really have the best intentions to help you, but this has never happened to anyone else so I do not have a standard solution for this.
There have be a few cases where the firewall and/or virus scanner blocked access to the software, due to a false positive.

From my experience, applications never stop suddenly (at least not my software). That is why I thought that maybe configuration became corrupted.
Did try to reset the registry?

During the startup the software is loading extensions and fonts. But if you did not change anything then this should not be different then before.

I don't know for sure what I did. After deleting the registry key you gave me, it still wouldn't start. So I ran through the registry and searched for WebBuilder and removed all the references I thought were safe. It mostly looked like install location records and recent file access lists. I also ran CCleaner, which is for checking the registry for errors. After that I rebooted and tried another fresh install. This time it asked me for my registration info and after re-starting, it loaded all the way up. I'm to tired to work with it tonight, but I will try to test it tomorrow if I can get time. Will let you know.
