Post by Rusty » Wed Jul 10, 2019 6:34 am

I cant get text to stay in master page Content Place Holder in all page breakpoints, see example https://www.garliestonlodge.co.uk/pig_keeping.html any ideas why. Worked fine in WB14. I have downloaded latest version.

What does it look like in WB14?
Maybe the text or line spacing is larger?
Do you have a demo project so I can see all your settings?

Thanks for the project.

First please download version 15.0.3. This update has many compatibility improvements.

The main issue is that there is too much text inside a single textbox. This makes the formatting unpredictable in browsers.
Especially when you do not include line-spacing in fixed/absolute layout mode.
In WB15, all rendering has been redesigned to use direct2d/hardware acceleration. In some cases this may increased or decrease the text size depending of the used font.

I recommend to either split up the text into smaller blocks or add line-spacing so the published result will be more predictable.

You can read more about this in this related FAQ:
http://www.wysiwygwebbuilder.com/forum/ ... 10&t=34318

Note that if you use flexible layout then this will not be an issue because then everything will scale automatically.

Hi Pablo

I have updated to V:03
Sorry I don't understand the text size and line spacing part of reply.
This page https://www.garliestonlodge.co.uk/mccreath.html has a lot more text and line spacing and works fine but this page https://www.garliestonlodge.co.uk/pig_keeping.html has less text and has line spacings and wont go responsive.

I think, the different is the font-size. Fonts behave different with different font sizes. That is why I suggested to use line-spacing.

Hi Pablo

Copied and pasted contents of WB14 page into WB15 not pretty but it fits all breakpoints and as long as I don't try to edit any text its at least viewable.

Note that WWB15 has many options to optimize/fine tune text.
Adding line-height is just one of them. You can also find-tune the font in pixels, in case it's too big (or too small).

Hi Pablo

You can't teach an old dog new tricks without letting them know what the trick is. :?

"You should not have to redo any work.
If the software works different than previous versions then this is most likely related to different settings.
Most text related issues are caused by DPI configuration." All I am is asking is how and why.

Correct, but in this case the cause of the problem already existed in the project, there is too much text in textbox vs absolute layout.
It was more coincidence that it worked with this combination of settings.
The reason why the issue is now coming up, is because WB15 uses a different (modern) rendering engine. So, Windows renders the text slightly different.

Hi Pablo

I assumed that whatever you put in a breakpoint Content Place Holder text or images no matter how big or how many that the footer always moved down to accommodate them.

This is correct. However, the footer has an absolute position, the coordinates are calculated based on size of the text in the workspace.
If the browser renders the text larger then this will not cause the footer to move, because all coordinates are absolute.
By using small text blocks the margin for error will become smaller and it will have less impact on the published layout.

The only way to publish text with pixel perfect results is by publishing it as text, this is also possible in WWB.

When using flexible layouts (like most modern websites), this is not an issue because then the browser calculates the layout dynamically.
But of course in that case you have less freedom of where to place objects.

Hi Pablo

How do I set this in WWB " The only way to publish text with pixel perfect results is by publishing it as text, this is also possible in WWB."
