WYSIWYG Web Builder goes 64 bit!

Post by Pablo » Wed Jun 21, 2017 9:18 am

WYSIWYG Web Builder 14 (64 bit) - BETA VERSION.
This is the next big step in the development of WYSIWYG Web Builder: a 64 bit version!

*** THIS VERSION IS FOR TEST PURPOSES ONLY !!! ****

The standard version of WYSIWYG Web Builder is a 32bit application and although it will run fine on modern computers, it does not use the system in its full potential.
For example a 32 bit application can use a maximum of 2 GB system memory. 64 bit applications do not have a limit.
Also WYSIWYG Web Builder 14 (64 bit) was developed and compiled with the latest development tools.

Creating the 64 bit version has been a lot of work and many changes have been made to the source code to make sure all code is compatible with 64bit systems.
This also means that things may work differently or new bugs have been introduced because the source code is different. So please be aware that this version may not be as stable as a regular release of WWB (yet).

If you find any issues with the version then please let me know so I can fix them in the next update. Note that it may take a few months before then final version will be ready, but I think this is a good start...

Important:
If this version does not start then your system probably needs the Visual C++ Redistributable Packages install run-time components.

Note about 64-bit extensions
All third party extensions (created with Extension Builder) should be working just like in the 32-bit version.
Most official extensions (which are real applications) have been ported to 64bit.
Because 64-bit apps are not compatible with 32-bit, they have a different file extension: .wbx64
Updated extensions are available via the Extension Manager or here:
http://extensions.wysiwygwebbuilder.com/
Note that this website also indicates whether or not a 64-bit version of the extension is available.

If you have previously purchased one or more of the PAID extensions then you can request the update(s) here:
http://www.wysiwygwebbuilder.com/extension_update.html

Backwards compatibility
The 64bit version is compatible with the 32bit version.
However the 32bit version is NOT compatible with the 64bit version!
This means that you can open 32bit projects, but you cannot open 64bit projects in the standard (32bit) version!

Please let me know if I have overlooked something.
