[rz] Full Size / Proportional Background Pack - v1.1.0.2

This set of extensions allows you to have four type of proportional full-sized page backgrounds; a static image, a slideshow and two video modes.

DEMO

- Improved backward focus control compatibility.
- Workaround for a loop bug in the YT module (seems that YouTube changed some rules and apparently introduced some inconsistencies).

-Tweaks for RWD.
-More push effects for Slide Show buttons.

-Pivots support to make size and position adjustments with horizontal and vertical extra offsets in fixed pixels or percentage.
-Support for wb9 Slide Show object with image captions.
-Optimized objects handling for better performance with the Slide Show object.
-Can be used as a whole page background or even within a [resizable] layer context; backgrounds can be attached to target objects - auto: setup itself to its context (body/layer, depends on where the object was placed); body: setup itself as the body background; body layout: setup itself to be only the background of the scheme (applies i.e. to centered pages); entering manually an object id, attaches the background to that specific target object (i.e. text objects).
-Improved single image size handling and optimized algorithm for android based mobiles.
-Optimized keyboard/focus handling.
-Optionally can add a pattern that covers the whole Image or Slide Show (also applies for the video extensions in this pack).
-Single images, slides and navigation controls images cannot be dragged.
-Option to activate captions when the mouse is over the navigation control was deprecated and removed.
-The same instance/configuration can point to multiple Image and/or Slide Show objects (the objects ids must be comma separated).

4. Publish or preview.

Put local FLV videos as background instead of static images and build your control panel with your own images!

How to use?

1. Drag and drop an Image object (optional, but strongly recommended in case the visitor's browser doesn't display Flash).
2. Drag and drop this extension and enter the flv media file.
3. Drag and drop the [rz] Full Screen Background (see #1) extension to display a static image in case the visitor's browser doesn't display Flash (like iDevices).
4. Publish or preview.
5. Enjoy!

If you want to build your own control panel, here are the available functions:

Please note: this extension doesn't support the 'Center this page in the browser window horizontally and vertically' option; this means, you can have 'not-centered' or 'horizontally-centered' pages.

and you are doing what javascript always said don't do it.
according to the mail you sent me, this object has 2 illegal characters: "2-columnsImage1"
must start with an alphabetic char and not not with a number
you have a minus sign, use an underscore instead

(please note, you don't need to send me emails unless i didn't answer your post. i think that 15 minutes is not such a delay...)

according to your description, the issue is at your end, this means that you should contact the software support and provide some details they may ask you.
just for your info, if you have a trial version, you won't be able to install/run any external extension.

May I ask how this extension differs from the other "full-screen background" extensions available (including the tool available within WB8)? What is the optimum size of pic to be used with this extension to ensure maximum clarity regardless of screen resolution? Please advise. Thanks.

i'm not familiar with other full-screen background extensions.
what i can tell you is what is posted in the first post, it works with single images or even with the wb slideshow object, also youtube and flv are supported.
it is an extreme lightweight solution with proprietary code that does not require jquery; anyhow, if you use the slideshow's fade transitions, the jquery library will be loaded as it is required by the slideshow.
a good image quality is advisable, but it doesn't need bigger than any normal screen resolution.

Hi RZ,

Did you check the youtube background one. The extension volume controls have no effect in the final page.
Set it to volume 0 and 'No sound' still sound is there in the video

RZ - may I ask have you tested this extension on a smartphone(android's ie and apple's safari ios)? Does it still render the background pic porportionately in portrait as well as landscape? What size background pic do you suggest to maximize clarity when enlarged without adding too much weight to the page? Thanks in advance.

1. of course, was fully stressed prior to the release and works fine; you can refer to the first post for more technical issues that were succesfuly solved.
why you don't test it by yourself so you can see how it works?

2. also this question was extensively answered in another post (opened by you)
usually a 1000x750 will be superb+!, all depends on the source quality not always on the size, also the image type counts like blur, colors, etc, etc
playing with the photoshop output may help to see those parameters

I gave your link a test on my 5" android smartphone and it stretches the pics in portrait as I feared. Looks great in landscape but not in portrait. Would this have anything to do with how overflow is rendered? Not a big deal. Forces the user to view the site in landscape anyway. Thanks.

I am probably asking for the moon - forgive me - but is there anyway to have it fit porportionately top to bottom in portrait and have the overflow left and right hidden? Just curious.

i re-tested in my tablet android based and current online demo works fine, rotating from 0 to 360...
anyhow there are good news, i think i found a solution for this special case
when the code is ready, i will ask you to do a test because i haven't a device like yours
it seems to be an ie bug for galaxy

please do a simple test just following the link to the online demo and tilt as many devices as you can
2 you don't need to worry, i'm still supporting wb8 developments
3 you don't need to sorry about a collaboration, it is not a fee but a contribution for further developments; i tried to do my best to investigate the issue and within two hours come with a solution; if you cannot afford a small donation, you can wait for the free release instead of receive it now in your private mail (and support for any other issue related to the one you reported, or, a refund), anyhow i have no time frame for the free release as i'm working in another cross-browser complex solution

I would love to, but Israel is very expensive to visit. It is cheaper to go to California and rent a car than visit Israel for a couple of weeks. And I miss Israel so bad.The difference in price is not 'prootot'.

The extension is a "patch" this means that you must use the fsb ext in the page you are embedding

page 1 holds slide show.
I drag rz-fullscreen-backgrounds.wbx into main ( index) page - Nothing happens.
I tried to drag into page 1.

the extension is working fine.
if the image is a square and your browser is sized like a rectangle, when the image is resized to fit the rectangle, the image won't fit vertically.
this is the only way to ensure that both your image will proportionally resized and fit all the background space.
