Cookie consent - Do I have to care about?

Post by sieweb »

Hi,
With regard to my websites I don't care about cookies - I don't know what they are good for (me) and I do not implement any (as far as I know, I even do not know how to do so :D ).
Do I have to set up a Cookie Consent?
And what about if I have embedded youtube videos?

WYSIWYG Web Builder itself does not add any tracking cookies to your website.
However, if you are using YouTube, Google Analytics or other third party services then you may need to add a cookie consent notice to your website.

Some useful reading Note the law and the use of cookies will or may differ for your location.

Thank you,
so I gave cookieboot the chance to scan one of my sites:
https://www.b4flatline.de
and got the reuslt:
Not compliant
The following requirements in the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the ePrivacy Directive 2009/136/EC (ePR) have been tested:
Prior consent on other than strictly necessary cookies (ePR)
Prior consent on personal data (GDPR)
Personal data is transmitted to 'adequate countries' only (GDPR)
but for what I do need consent if there are no cookies and no request on personal data?
So I argue, this scan is useless?

Prior consent on personal data (GDPR)
This could be related to the "Guestbook" and requires a email to be used before use. As the email can be seen as personal data for each user then under GDPR requirement a cookie policy or GDPR policy may be required to inform the user to accept this before entering any information such as email, user name etc. So even though the "Guestbook" does not use or add any cookies it is the information being inserted that requires permission.
Note this is just my interpretation of what is required under GDPR about how sites gather information such as user name, email and how it is used, stored by the site owner.
