I use the tower and 27 inch monitor for my web and print work and actually don't own a laptop. I am increasing the monitor to a 32 inch. So a laptop for is useless.jerryco wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 1:40 pm My advice is just get a new computer when Windows support stops. Preferably, a laptop. I don't understand why people go for a tower PC these days with a seperate monitor. Unless you have a lot of typing to do ofcoarse. A laptop (I'm using an Asus VivoBook) uses, if I read the specs right, 45 Watts. A tower PC can be 400 Watts not including the monitor!
Same power saving remark goes for gaming... we have consoles that have everything in one and they will always support games made for that console. Also a power saver!

Fair points. I will be buying a new machine in 2022. For now Windows 10 it is I am afraid...Bluesman wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 1:49 pmDe nada... It's a 64 bit base with an AMD A8-7600 Radeon R7, 10 Compute Cores 4C+6G 3.10 processor with 8GB installed RAM.
Good thread Zinc!
Edit - Would appear that the main culprit is the absence of a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) chip in the motherboard. Quick research says these may be able to be added depending on your mother board. Not all have a TPM chip slot.
Open a DOS window, type in tpm and check results.
As "zinc" wrote... there will be some other ways (buying) or updating the motherboard...
I will definitely not buy a new pc. Rather dance around in Windows 10 limbo for some years more

Why not get three 65 inch screens? And a Dual Tower system with Triple RAID redundancy? Or get the replica of the Milennium Wheel in your parking space backyard?

Re: Windows 11
My WWB PC and laptop both have a TPM module (v2) so they are OK.
I have two others that I use as test beds - no TPM, so they won't be test beds much longer. Which is a shame because they are OK PCs.

Hi guys... after a days struggeling updating the bios on Gigabyte G1.SNIPER B7 and activating the tpm 2.0 and secure boot, still don't accept for Windows 11 update?? Anyone have a clue?

Thanks Zinc - let's hope MS get their proverbial organised.zinc wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 6:42 am Indeed Collin - The Trusted Platform Module (TPM) chip in the motherboard - but depending on your motherboard, you can buy these from Amazon... But see this:

Jerryco - One of the reasons is the ability to have a 1920 (or larger) pair of or even three monitors.

Well, it raises the question, how virtual do we need to be?
My motto somewhat related to this is:
Live where you were born, and work where you live.
Should cut travel in half I'm guessing and prevents a lot of internet time talking to friends from the past.

WWB was developed with VC++ which means it will not have any issues with Windows 11 and if it does, Pablo will apply his magic!

Re: Windows 11
Just a quick update on this. Im testing WB16 on Windows 11 64bit and so far its working all ok.
The only issue I have come across was in the installation it overwrote my Microsoft C++ 2015-2019 with the Microsoft C++ 2015 version and my Office 2019 Pro plus volume licence version had to be re installed again followed by Microsoft C++ 2015-2019
Overall its great and very fast compared to Win 10
I will bring any other updates as necessary or if anyone has a feature they want me to test for them let me know.

Re: Windows 11
So with all the talk / excitement about Windows 11 and will it be compatible with your existing PC and its ability to run Android app / apks I would hold of the excitement for now. According to the following article you may be disappointed as Microsoft has teamed up with Amazon...yes Amazon to be the provider of them and not Google. Now whether at a later date will it be possible to install (sideload) third party apps/apks not available from it like you can do with other Android devices only time will tell.
Re: Windows 11
That may also be why Google has moved away from APKs as installation media.
Re: Windows 11
How are the three 65 inch screens and a Dual Tower system with Triple RAID redundancy coming on zinc? I guess you do have the Wheel already?
