He does but I think Yahoo have changed the weather services API...

On reading it looks like Yahoo have in there words have retired the following
weather.yahooapis.com and query.yahooapis.com so this will explain why it no longer works. Hopefully [rz] will be able to update the extension so that it works again.

yes yahoo changed their mind (and the scripts!)
whenever i find a consistent service i will try to make the extension available again

I've been using this widget for about 6 months with no issues. My clients love it.
