i absolutley love this extension! however i cant seem to get background video to auto start on IOS safari (ipad, iphone)

Hi. Does this allow video to auto play on ios mobiles and ipad yet?

usually full size background videos are not allowed to play automatically, mainly on mobiles
browsers are becoming stricter with this policy, chrome did it first on desktop versions

I know there has been restrictions in the past but still there are websites out there with it working.

the restrictions are not related to the past but to the actual time and may become stricter than currently are as it seems a new policies trend
on some cases some videos may be played when produced without sound, but this does not apply to all mobiles (i.e. android and/or ios versions and some desktop versions like chrome and similar chromium based browsers)

Yes in this case I want to play video without sound.
So I’m looking for a way of doing this - and I thought you might be implementing it in your plugin

i disabled the auto play on mobiles due to the many issues across platforms, browsers and versions (and still count)
chrome recently added this new restriction policy
i did not find enough congruent information for mobiles yet, whenever i find a solid way to implement more workarounds, obviously i will do immediately; as you can see, the extension has been updated for the recently changes...

does this option overcome the issue of autoplay in chrome?

the video is always played, if sound cannot be started due to stricter policies of the browser, the video is automatically muted and starts anyway -- then you can manually click on the button to activate the sound
this applies to i.e. chrome, however, mobiles are even stricter, so a custom static image will be shown instead
