Margin Changing when Copying Items to a Different Page

Post by rtodaro »

I am copying a Vertical Menu Bar and a Picture from one page to another page.

After copying the 2 items they are further left than on the original. I've tried this various ways:
  • Copy as an individual file (menu or picture) and "paste".
Copy as an individual (menu or picture) file and "paste in place".
Copy two files "grouped" together and "paste".
Copy two files "grouped" together and "paste in place".
I have also tried using "Format Painter" to fix this issue.

To try to troubleshoot have made a copy of the main "default.htm" page as "default-copy1.htm" and "default-copy2.htm". In this way there is no chance of some setting being different between pages.

I deleted the picture and menu bar from "default-copy2.htm" and pasted these from "default-copy1.htm" using the copy/paste methods listed above. with the same issue repeating itself - the left margin is further left on "default-copy2.htm".

You can see all tree pages at the following URLs:
Original page:
https://twindata.net/webbuilder/default.htm (clicking on the logo in the upper left will take you to "default-copy1.htm" page)

Copy of Original Page:
https://twindata.net/webbuilder/default-copy1.htm (clicking on the logo in the upper left will take you to "default-copy2.htm" page)

Copy with cloned page with Menu Bar and Image deleted with the same two items being copied from "default-copy1.htm":
https://twindata.net/webbuilder/default-copy2.htm (clicking on the logo in the upper left will take you to "default-copy1.htm page)

Clicking on "Home" in the Black Menu Bar on any of these pages will bring you to "default.htm"

Any idea why "copy" and/or "copy in place" is not working properly, or am I doing something incorrectly?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The menu bar has a different parent container.
On the page https://twindata.net/webbuilder/default-copy1.htm
the menu is a child element of LayoutGrid3, so it has the margin/padding of the layout grid.

On the page On the page https://twindata.net/webbuilder/default-copy1.htm
the menu is a child element of page

Also, note that if you use layout grid then the page alignment should be set to 'do not center this page'

If you need further assistance then please share a DEMO project , because it is very difficult to see what you have done based on the published HTML.

Pablo,

Below is the link for downloading this projects files.

https://app.box.com/s/whh2a7udgq7uzgzn28uz8pr030tspw6i

The the three pages I mentioned in my post are:

default.htm this is the original page
default-copy1.htm this is a clone of default.htm
default-copy2.htm this is also a clone of default.htm, but with the menu bar and facebook picture deleted and then copied from default-copy1.htm

I don't understand how the formatting can be changed by cloning a page or copying an element or picture to paste on another page.

Please let me know if you need any other information.

Thanks for your help on this.

Did you read my comments about the menu not being inside the layout grid?

Also, if you share a project then please remove everything from the project file that is not relevant to your question.

Pablo,

Here's the link for the project and files needed with only the 3 pages mentioned. Th same link as before.

https://app.box.com/s/whh2a7udgq7uzgzn28uz8pr030tspw6i

I did read your comments but still don't understand why a cloned page would be different than the original.

Thanks again.

The cloned page is different because the menu is not inside the layout grid.
You will need to drag & drop the menu inside the cell of the grid. Currently, it is on top of the grid, it is not part of the grid.

Pablo,

Thank you again for a quick reply on an issue.

This makes it nice and easy.

Basically, I will paste a menu to the page I want it on, THEN drag it to the layout grid.

Thanks again.

Regards,

PS I a read in a post about leaving positive reviews of WB17 at various web locations but I can NOT find that post. I will gladly leave positive feedback if you can let me know where that information is located.
