Opening times for Restaurant

Post by ha33y »

Hi peeps,
I just can't get the opening days and times to look nice and neat and all in line.
I have tried several ways (using tables, layout grid etc) but they never look good.
Is there a particular way I can do this keeping them all nice and clean and in proper line (especially the times)?
This is the best I can do, check it out and let me have your thoughts.
https://www.zorbathegreek.co.uk/derby.html and scroll down to 'opening times'
Your advice would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance

You've done something right because at small widths, it looks OK.

You say you've tried putting them in a table - that normally works OK for me for things like that. How did you do it?

Hi Alan,
Thanks for your reply...

well the problem is getting the days and the times to look good as they go down the line and all in sync and neat.
Doing it as text, they look aweful and the times are never in line, even though they look good within the program, when uploaded, they are all over the place.
I tried a table with 2 columns and input the days in column 1 and the times in column 2 and then just tried to get them looking as best i could, but even then they are not perfectly alligned, as you can see on the main page, it's just kinda amaturish.

I also tried the 'Layout' and 'grid' with 2 boxes again, but it never looks neat and professional.

I just wondered whether there was a particular method used for this, is there anything like a card or table or something pre-made for things like this? or is there a conventional way that people use for text and numbers which will keep them all nicely and neatly in line?

Have you tried a fixed font e.g. Courier New?

Hi,
no I don't think I have.

Just wanted to know if there is a convetional method of doing this for perfect allignment of text/numbers/ etc as opposed to trying different fonts.

AFAIK each fixed font will align just the same. Try it.

Courier new is a horrible font for this, looks aweful.
Is there anywhere I can get a list of fixed fonts that will be easily viewed by all browsers to choose from?

Try googling fixed fonts for web pages.
Monospaced fonts would be a better search.

As I said, it's nothing special I added a layout grid - set it to flexbox. Added a 4 x 12 table and filled it with text from a CSV file. Changed the font to Ariel 14 point and that's about it.

Try again and see how you get on. If you need to, post the wbs file somewhere we can look at (dropbox or similar).
