Can't update my website through FTP server

Post by song5 »

Hi

I used to update my website through FTP server in the software. (WISWIG version 9) but can't do it all of sudden.
I've contacted my hosting company and worked with them several times but it wasn't resolved.
They searched this forum and advised me to check on passive mode and I got "successfully published" at the end.
But the updated contents doesn't show on my website. If you could help this issue, you will save my life..

This is what I got after publishing. (It was over the maximum number of character so deleted the middle parts..

Re: Can't update my website through FTP server

If is not showing on your server after upload then it is more than likely a hosting issue. Have you tried clearing your browser cache to take affect and show the latest version?. If it has previously worked then something had changed either locally or on your server. One possible reason that you cannot upload via the software is that your host now requires you to use SFTP rather than FTP. As you are using WB9 (Note no longer supported) you will need to use a third party application such a FileZilla to upload now. Again please note WB 9 is no longer supported as it is extremely old now and just as a suggestion you should upgrade to the latest version WB16 to receive support and be able to use the inbuilt SFTP feature to upload.

I tried to upload my website through Firezilla but got the same result. Successfully uploaded, but the updated contents isn't revealed on the website.

I would like to purchase the WB16 as you recommended with the 40% discount coupon for existing customer.
But it asks me the serial number for my old version to request the coupon. Where can I find my WB 9' serial number?

INHO, if you used Filezilla and got the same results then either this is a hosting/server/setup problem or you are publishing to the wrong folder.

The folder I published has the most recent image folder (checked the updated pictures in it) and the recent .WBS file
Is there something missing?
Also I have contacted/worked to fix this issue with the hosting company many times. I think they did all they can do. (They even look through your forum to figure the problem)

Do you know where I can find the old serial number? I think the last thing I can try is updating a version. I want to get a discount.

You should be able to find your serial in the email you would have received when you purchased WB9. If you do not have this you can contact Pablo for more help at orders@pablosoftwaresolutons.com when doing so try to provide as much information as possible such as email used, date of purchase etc.
I would first try to resolve the issue as I believe it is related to where it has been uploaded to on your server. I say this because if in no the past it worked then it is something that has changed recently either on the server or how you are uploading. Also I would check with your host and ask whether they use FTP or SFTP as it will make a difference..

Are you sure the files are in the right folder on the server?

For local site, it is in the folder (I put image folder and .WBS file in there) on Desktop.
For remote site, it is under /public_html.
After completing upload, I went into image file under public_html, the updated pictures are being copied in that folder. weird...
I wish I could show you the screenshot to find any error.

Did you also upload the HTML files to the server?

I wish I could attach the screenshots.

To find my website files, I went into WYSWYG Web builder -> backups. This folder has only .WBS files and image folders organized by date. (There is no .html file separately)
I picked the .wbs file and image folder that was updated recently, then I created one folder on the desktop named "my website"

Then opened Firezilla,
I selected /public_html for remote site, and clicked "my webstie" under desktop for local site.
Then selected those .wbs file and image folder and right clicked for upload.
Even though there was no html files in my local folder separately, I can see .html files for each page of my website on remote site after completing upload.

I still don't know what I can do more.
I emailed pablo to ask about my old serial number for WB9.
Thank you for you guys' continuous help.

Sorry this is invalid as it can only be viewed by yourself as it is located on your PC. If you wish to share a image please upload to your host / server and then provide a url. Or use the following https://imgbb.com/

Update you have removed your previous reply with the url which was invalid. See my reply

If you can take a look at this, that would be great.
I purchased WB16, open my old file on WB16 and published it and also got the same result. no updated contents shows..

You will need to publish your website via the built-in 'Publish' option. The .wbs file is the project file, it is not the HTML.

That was what I used to do all the time. but it didn't work all of sudden, then I tried everything what you guys suggested (and what hosting company suggested) so came so far..
And need to go back to the beginning point..

I used built in publish function and Firezilla
I checked/unchecked passive mode
I unblocked the firewall
checked the setting with hosting company..

I don't know what else I can do.. communicating on this page has so many restriction.
But still appreciate you guys help I know you guys are frustrated too..

Hello WYSIWYG officer or anybody else out there. The same with me I am using WYSIWYG 11 and can't update too using built in ftp publish. I am using wysiwyg platform for almost 8 years or more and it suddenly happened to me few days ago this month of May, 2021. Now I am using a direct upload thru my host cpanel admin. Does anyone here can help me solve the problem? Thank's a lot!

First please note that WB11 is no longer supported. If can no longer use the inbuilt publisher with FTP then your host or server probably no longer supports it and now requires you to use SFTP instead please contact them for more information on this.
