Hyperlink text and images

Post by charles m »

Hi there.

This is my first post so go easy on me :-)

We have purchased WYSIWYG to build our new website to replace a Webplus non responsive website which having served us well is now pretty much redundant.

We have the general setup working well as a draft but there are a few niggling things I can seem to work out.

1/ We have a text hyperlink at the bottom of a scroll down page that 'returns to the top' of the page via a bookmark. The problem is that the text scrolls under a fixed footer which then makes it unresponsive. Is there any way of avoiding this?

2/ We have images that are to hyperlink to other pages in the site. Ideally these would use the fade function when the mouse hovers over the image. We can get it to work as rollover text but then the hyperlink only works when rolling over a thin portion of text that appears on the image. Trying to do this as a rollover image doesn't give the option of fade and easing.

For info we are using layout grids for a responsive design.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Best wishes

Charles

1. In the settings of the bookmark you can specify an offset. Or else use a margin at the top of the first bookmark.

2. In the rollover text object you can also set the 'position'. Then the link will cover the entire object.
You can also implement a 'fade' effect for a standard image with transitions.

Thanks for this. I am still having problems with the fading though.

Using a text rollover image there seems to be no option to make the link active over the entire picture. I have set the position to full with a 'fade' effect but the link is only able to be activated when hovering over the text. The image does fade over the full picture but as I say you can only follow the link by clicking exactly on the text.

Trying it with a rollover image there seems to be no option for 'fade' in the transitions. There is an option for 'fade' on the 'general' tab but this does not allow this function to be used.

Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Charles

I'm sorry, you are right. This option is only available when the rollover is not used in a layout grid.

However, the rollover image should work.

Thanks for the quick reply

Reverting to the rollover image then - the option for 'easing' is grayed out in the general tab. Looking at the animations tab there is no option for fade. Can you direct me to what I am doing wrong?

Btw I have tried it in a layout grid and outside of one.

Many thanks

Easing is only available for specific effects using use JavaScript
However, fade is available in the list.

HI there

Yes. I can see its available but nothing happens when it is set to fade.

Correct me if I am wrong but I think the issue is that with a rollover text there is a style tab where you can set the opacity (I have set it to 80%). This creates a nice gradual fading.

With a rollover image there is no 'style' tab and setting the animation to fade has no effect as above :-(

In the rollover image, you will have to set two images.
The fade effect will fade from the first image to the second image.
