OG image selection

Post by mrwillow »

Hi,

I'm sure this is a standard query, but in using the "Open Graph Meta Tags" the image selected is not the one showing up in Facebook Debugger. The invalid error reads, "The given value 'www.theavenuemotionpicturecompany.com/the-fool.html' for property 'og:url' was not a valid absolute URL."

Having done a Google search, I have tried numerous remedies - eg., http:// - but nothing seems to work.

Please advise,

DC

A valid URL starts with 'http' or 'https'

See also the documentation.

Nope, sorry - I simply have no clue what is wrong here. The Open Graph Meta Tags currectly reads:

Title: The Avenue Motion Picture Company - Home
Description: The East Midlands Premier Video Production Company. Offices also in London. 25 years serving clients media promotional needs.
Image: [the Jpeg I am pointing to, currently on my desktop]
Type: Video.other [some pages have video, some don't, this particular one doesn't although none of it seems to make a difference]
URL: http://www.theavenuemotionpicturecompany.com [what's the difference between http and https ?]

The URL should be a valid (absolute) URL to the page:
http://www.theavenuemotionpicturecompan ... ename.html

I think that's resolved the issue, albeit now there is a new issue with images having white spaces in their file name. That's a lot of work to correct.

File names should not have spaces because many servers see a space as the end of the name. So, if the file is requested by the browser then the server cannot find it.
The same is true for javascripts.
