This extension is based on Mary Lou's (CoDrops) Overlay Menu. Original code here.
Overlay Menu is a simple jQuery navigation tool that allows UP TO five (5) main tabs. Each tab produces a drop down panel that can contain three (3) columns of seven (7) linked menu items. Therefore the maximum links possible is 105.
The drop down panel can display either 1, 2 or 3 columns of linked menu items.
Once a tab takes focus the background will be overlayed with an opacity set by the extension so that the menu remains the focus for the visitor.
Lots of potential. Demo available at the usual place (see sig)
Please read the help file before requesting assistance.........the help files take quite a while to put together, so don't be lazy!
Enjoy.

Re: Overlay Menu (FREE)
It's a cool menu but 5 columns is not enough for what I need to achieve.
Can anyone please let me know how to add more columns to this menu?
Cheers.

Re: Overlay Menu (FREE)
The menu is provided as is based on the CoDrops code. You have the option to have 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 buttons and each button provides options to have 1, 2 or 3 columns containing 7 menu items in each column - that's 105 linkable menu items.
If you want more buttons, there is a way to do this but if you want more columns within each of the drop downs you can't.

Re: Overlay Menu (FREE)
Thanks for your reply. Indeed I need more buttons/Tabs, 8 exactly.
Please let me know how to proceed and thanks for your help.

Re: Overlay Menu (FREE)
FPA,
Well, I had a THEORY - I haven't tried this yet and wont be able to for a couple of days......and it involved inlineFrames. You can't have two instances on the same page so you'll need to set up a separate page that just holds the extension. Both instances of the menu will use the same CSS and JS files but the HTML needs to be separate. So the theory was....
[1] create a new page (or two pages as I suggested), add the extension, customise as required.
[2] where you require the navigation add two inlineFrames. Link one to nav1.html and the other to nav2.html.
But that cant work as [1] you need to allow for the drop downs, the extension uses the background image of the page it is on and [c] it's messy! So forget that........I'll need to have a think!
