Slide Down Box Menu (free)

Postby Adendum » Sat Sep 24, 2011 6:04 pm

The Slide Down Box Menu is now available from the main extension site - here and also from my extension demo site. The help file is also available online from the same page.

This menu extension is a jQuery and CSS menu based on the original CODROPS code.

This version offers all the same features and benefits as originally coded but also allows you to customise several parts of the menu including a different drop down box size to the main menu, different colours or images for the drop down and/or fly out sections and the option to have more or less menu buttons.

PLEASE READ THE HELP FILE BEFORE REQUESTING SUPPORT.

As far as I am aware that's not possible.

The options available are to:-
[a] Display TEXT only (text specified by the extension builder)
[b] Display IMAGE (an image specified by the extension builder)
[c] Live HTML rendering (not quite sure what this means but that's what I use most of the time)

So as far as I am aware there would need to be a change made to the Extension Builder program that Pablo provides so somehow display the contents in design view. Unless more experienced extension builders know better?

Extension updated today to use WWB supplied jQuery rather than .. ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.2/jquery.min.js as used by the original author.

I had an issue last night with the menu conflicting with JQuery Portlets. The author stated that they would place an update on the WYSIWYG Extension Manger to fix the issue. I downloaded the update and attempted to use the menu today in another site.

However, when I attempt to preview the changes, it will show the image when the box drops down. Is there a limit to the size of image that must be used? I thought that the extension automatically re-sized.

I viewed in preview browser, but I also did this previous to the update and the image was viewable.

Or, is the new issue due to the update?

Please advise.

templar1973,

The extension does not and cannot resize your images. Create the menu images at the size you want them and make sure all images are the same dimensions. Take note of those dimensions as you will need them to make adjustments within the extension. The extension comes with default values but these need to be altered to suit your menu and images.

Look at the sample menus in my demo site and please take the time to read the help file., everything should be clear from there.

Thank you for the response. However, I am still having major issues with the extension.

1. I had 6 menu fields. Only 5 will show up and the last one "Tac Shop" is showing in the first position and the true first position item is being left off the menu. Also, the Tac Shop box is dropped below the level of the other boxes.

** As I have reviewed the menu on the site, I have figured out the the Tac Shop box (last position) is being loaded on top of the first position instead of at the end of the line.

2. None of the images are appearing in the pop-ups. Even though I followed the help file instructions.

3. The fly out for the first position (Left) is moving out to the left instead of to the right.

These are the major problems. You can view the site in progress at http://www.assaultlife.com then click on the second link "tips & tactics". Please advise.

Thanks,
Ed

Ed,

I think the easiest way for me to work out what is happening is if you send me your Tips_&_Tricks.html page as a project file (.wbs) together with your menu images. Save the current project with a new name, delete all the other pages, save again and then email me.

Drop me a line first using either my support form or main site contact form and I'll email you back with my email address as there is no PM system on the forum.

Ed,

When using Firefox and Firebug I can clearly see that the images have not been uploaded to the server.

And not that it will make any difference to this problem you should update the extension. Your version uses a link to the Google Ajax library for the jQuery file (my oversight). The updated version uses to WWB supplied jQuery. This wont fix the problem but just wanted to let you know.
