|
|
Hello Fellow Designers,
I am creating this for my camera club. It's still under construction but will appreciate your comments.
I am using the Lightbox extension for the Gallery. I would like some help eliminating the scroll bar when the regular-sized image is displayed. Important note, the display window is an Inline frame. Please enlighten me on how this could be accomplished. Thank you for your help.

Why use an i-frame? You could put the slide show on the page then the images will show over everything else.

Yeah, the iframe cuts off some of the nav elements. _________________ More Web Site... Less Money. http://rhettroweb.com |

Thank you both for your comments. However, the way the site is designed, I believe it would be more efficient to make use of i-frame. As you will notice, the same window is being utilized to display some other group of images. But that's just my present way of thinking and my honest opinion. I am open to your suggestions and ready to explore another way of doing it.
The window in question is large enough (732 x 568) to accomodate the images (640 x 480). It appears that the script is setting the overlay image way below the top of the window thereby extending the navigation buttons way down, exceeding the original window size. Is there a way to tweak Lightbox to allow the overlay image fit the window?
Thank you for your assistance. _________________ Conrado

Fixed the scroll bar caused by Lightbox overlay image in i-frame by resizing the images to 420 x 560 from 480 x 640. Imagine if there's a lot of images, surely you would hope that the extension will be able to deal with this minor image placement. But for now, it works and I am happy. _________________ Conrado

I have just had a look, clicked on the link in your first post then on Gallery but it caused Interneexplorer to crash! This happened 3 times.
I looked at it in Firefox without any problems.

Sorry to learn that it's crashing with Internet Explorer. Could it be during the time that I was re-uploading the latest version? I just tried it again and it appears to be alright. No crash on the latest versions of IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Flock. _________________ Conrado

Still crashes for me. Starts to load the gallery page and at that point it crashes. |

I can open the page that goes in the i-frame for the gallery: http://www.philcanam.com/cnjcc/folder1/membergallery.html
This is OK on it's own in IE8 so there seems to be some sort of conflict when that page is in the i-frame in gallery.html.
Hopefully someone with more knowlege than me will come along soon.

As I am the builder of the extension I will try to explain...when using any lightbox extension and you use image of multiple sizes then the display area needs to be able to accommidate these sizes. So if we try to use within a iframe that has a set size of lets say 420 x 560 and the images are greater than this ie 750x 850 then it will give a scroll to the iframe, the extension has noway to know that your using within a iframe so it displays the image at it full size... the only way to achieve this is to keep the images within a size that will fit the iframe, there is no other way around this apart from not using within a iframe...
As mentioned it has nothing to do with the extension but the size of the iframe and the size of the images used within the iframe....

Hi BaconFries,
Thank you for your clarification.
I fully understand the requirement of the extension, that's why I set all my original image files to 640x480 which I thought would easily fit into the i-frame size of 732x568. That was my first attempt using the Lightbox. I then experimented on reducing the image files to 560x420 which resulted in what is in there now.
One thing that I notice though is the placement of the overlay image on the i-frame is way too low from the top that with the addition of the navigation buttons makes it way bigger than the set size of the i-frame, thus the scroll bar.
Once again, I sincerely appreciate your sharing the extension which I like very much. It will be a standard feature on all my sites.
PS: Do you have any idea why the earlier posts are indicating that it's causing IE to crash? It's not happening here! _________________ Conrado

Yes that works fine in IE8 for me too.
Hopefully bbtracker can find out what is going on as it is a very nice looking site. |

I've looked today and the Gallery link is no longer causing IE8 to stop working on my computer.
I would still prefer to see the slideshow on the page rather than in an i-frame, that way the whole page would go dark when the slideshow is running and this would make the images more prominent.
