The use of it ? ,I do not realy now.
It was an example in the pdf from extbuilder and it works only on one image.
If you use it in the corner, you can put a transparent shape over the curl for a mouseover to the next page.
But you can try to build this extension for more images with an xml and xsl file.

I can imagine more than I can do.
For instance, if you curled the upper right corner back, it might release a steam of water, or flowing anything that goes down the page with the leading edge of "liquid" slightly magnifying the words as if there is a refraction of light and slightly blurring the words that it has passed over. You could make the colors in an image "run" a bit.
The curl might release a butterfly which (of course is a flash sprite) that flies down page to land on a link which starts up a video on butterflies for instance.
Maybe the curl is just a mask on the one page that is flash and gets peeled back so that any sprite animation is continuous.
A lizard could crawl out of the curled back revealed page beneath which would be a flash animation. Actually, you can do that with swish (as long as a flash page can be beneath the curl).
Each effect is a world of possibilities.
