SUGGEST FOR EXTENSION DEVELOPMENT

Postby me.prosenjeet » Fri Mar 13, 2009 9:05 pm

This is to all members, if you like a script or function and wish it was made into an extension. You may suggest in this thread.
Your request may only be entertained if you provide a download link of the script (you will get the link on the home page of the script author or search else where like 'hotscripts.com').

Try to avoid huge scripts and those which require SQL data bases as it may be difficult for many users to create one. Flat text based data bases to be preferred.

But, before you suggest do read the copyright on the script and if it is allows to be distributed free. Do not suggest scripts that are commercial (for sale) and NO nulled scripts please. Also, consider the fact if the script can really be made into an extension.

I request all the extension developers to join hands and make a team- it will benefit us all in developing newer extensions of utility.
(We already have lot many image galleries and image related extensions...think of something new)

How about this one:

http://www.stickmanlabs.com/lightwindow/#demos

Can someone make an extension from this, please? (especially -but not necessarily only that one-) the one with Image Gallery with multiple images.

Willy.

Who is Who extension

Postby Wolter » Wed Jul 15, 2009 8:13 pm

My suggestion....

I would like to see a Who is Who extension.

What I need is a flatfile db that contains first name, family name, city, phonenumber, cellphone number and maybe a couple of other fields and also a field for an imagefile because I have small photo images (like on a passport) which are stored on the server.

On a blank page, below an instruction text to explain "how to use this", I need a "Search" field that is able to search in the db in all the fields for a match. When it has a match it should show the photo image and next to it the data from the db. There could be more matches of course and they shoul be aligned below each other with a small separation line between them.
Below the last match should be a search again button that will bring us back to the initial search page.

Some options that I can think of:
- Searching should be possible with a small string into all the text fields.
- No MySQL dbases or similar but a db like the Guestbookdb.php
- admin option to add an entry (including image file)
- auto resizing image file to a fixed size
- Fore/Back/Font colors/sizes are all parameters

Well, that's enough for a starter I guess. Please let me know if this is a challenge for an extension.

TIA and best regards,

Wolter

download link pasword protected

Postby ciberyan » Thu Jul 23, 2009 8:20 am

Hello to all here

I have a reluctant problem solved for the moment by a simple HTACCESS
But an extension would be nice
I have page with lot of download links
I DONT want to protect these paged themselves but the action of download.
HTACCESS do the job but visitor has to enter pass and login for each files which is a pain
I look for a way to login on the website and to give access to the download
Everything I see is to protect page that contain the download links ant that's not what I look for.
I want the visitor know what he can find on the web site. I just want he register to get acces (validate) the dowload link itself
Or at least something like : the visitor click on a download link (pdf file for example), a popup ask for a password (which is stored in a cookie ?)
Next download will not ask for the pass because it check for the cookie
Cookie can expire after one day

I hope to be clear ..

Thanks in advance for your attention

Nice, but you can just enter the actual file into the address bar to download it when you are not logged in :P

It is enough to place the files in a subfolder or in an upper level folder.
For anyone interested, i have updated the demo and zip. The updated download script will NOT display the folder, only the file name. So it would be quite secure.
