Fixed width page (for desktop) + 320 breakpoint (for mobile)

Post by longman » Wed May 30, 2018 7:54 am

Hi guys,

My default page/site is created in 1280 width, and its designed with flex grid.

For this particular website, I wanna have only one desktop version and one mobile version (Similar to the past with non-responsive design) so I created a breakpoint of 1280 and another breakpoint of 320. I preview the site, my flex grids do not move or float around, everything is fixed (which i like) until it reaches only to the 320 breakpoint (which is mobile version).

I designed a page that is fixed but at the same time responsive when it goes to 320 breakpoints. my question is, am I doing it wrong technically? Is it bad to create a breakpoint of the same width of default page? bad practice? it makes the page elements static/fixed until next breakpoint (mobile) which I had in mind.

My goal is only two width, desktop and mobile, the visitors for this site generally keep the window wide open and they are ok with a static view, so why do I bother to have all floating grids and several other breakpoints?

I hope i made myself clear on what i wanna do )

PS - I might add 375 width for iphone too. however, what i like is fixed/static grids by adding same default page breakpoint of 1280. Moreover, this will reduce my workload too if i won't add other breakpoints to make things floating...

I do not think it is wrong.

I did the same thing here:

But your page elements are all floating, mine is fixed until it reaches next breakpoint. By creating a breakpoint of the same width of default page, it made it all fixed.

The width gallery is fixed, that is why I referred to this template.
As long as you implement a breakpoint for smaller screens, it should be ok.
