Wrapping Text Around an Image

Post by lpug » Thu Apr 19, 2018 1:41 am

Hello, Id like to get some advice on which option is best to have wrapping text around an image which also becomes responsive. Ive read through the forum and seen suggestions to use either the article or blog option. I've tried these but doesn't appear to be that flexible or wrap around the image it wraps beside the image not around no matter which style you select. The wrapping text element seems to work well but you can't have text as an hyperlink
Thanks in advance

I'm sorry, there are no other options to wrap text around images than the ones you mentioned.

Thanks Pablo, is there a way to use hyperlinking in wrap text tool? or can I try to customise one of the article templates?

Thanks

Yes, you can customize the blog templates. They use standard HTML /CSS code.
The templates are stored in the 'blog' sub folder of the program files.

Thanks Pablo, I managed to customise a template and it works well. Do you know whether there is a way to include an alternative text for the images when using the blog templates. Does it need more customisation or is it done via html?

Thank you

There is no standard option for the alternative text, but maybe you can use $BUTTONTEXT$ or $SUBJECT$ for this (if you do not use them elsewhere in your template).

Pablo, is there any chance you can provide a little example, I'm not using the $BUTTONTEXT$ but not sure what to do with it.
Tried different things in the template file but nothing seems to work thats because I'm not sure what to do with it.

I know its not related to the programme itself but appreciate any kind of direction.

Thanks

I think it's best if you look at the other templates to learn how these variables work.
$BUTTONTEXT$ is the same for all items in the blog, so it may be better to use $SUBJECT$, which can be set for each item individually.

For example, in the 'card' template $SUBJECT$ is used for the heading.

Code: Select all

<div class="blogitem">
   <$HEADING$ class="blogsubject">$SUBJECT$</$HEADING$>
   <div class="bloginfo">
   <div class="blogthumb">$IMAGE$</div>
   <p>$TEXT$</p>
   <a class="blogbutton" href="$URL$" target="$TARGET$">$BUTTONTEXT$</a>
   </div>
</div>
You can use this also like this:

Code: Select all

<div class="blogitem">
   <img alt="$SUBJECT$">$IMAGE$</div>
   <p>$TEXT$</p>
</div>

Hi Pablo,
I understand how this works, i.e. the subject field is assigned the alternate name for the image, unfortunately it doesnt appear to work this way. Ive tried several ways thinking the syntax may be incorrect but can't get it to work. If I leave will this impact SEO, otherwise I'll leave it.

Thanks in advance

You can use this also like this:

Code: Select all

<div class="blogitem">
   <img alt="$SUBJECT$">$IMAGE$</div>
   <p>$TEXT$</p>
</div>
[/quote]

Why not? What happens? Is there an error?

You can have a look, I created a one image blog page with the modification
http://www.mediafire.com/file/8b9758l8z ... index.html

I actually want to use the button text though, I'm using the subject as my title.

Thanks

What is the exact problem?
Can you please be more specific?
When I open the HTML page then what should I see?

When you hover over the image an alternative name should appear, thats what I believe should happen.
Thats what I would like to happen anyway.

That is not what the alt tag is for. It will only be displayed by the browser if the image cannot be displayed.
If you wish to add a title on hover then you will need to add the 'title' attribute.
