possible Flex Box size diff on phone & tables

Post by rgsmiths » Fri Feb 09, 2018 4:57 pm

Pablo,

Really like all the features and am working with them on my site,
as yet unpublished because keep finding ways to do that are better
and better... anyway in the process my heading choice with Flex Boxes
revealed what may be a bug, or simple misunderstanding on my part.

I have made Flex Boxes my choice for Headings in Fixed mode,
most pages have Layout Grids and all was fine, till one page
I did not use a Layout Grid and when checking on my phone and tablet
discovered a difference in the size of the page!

to illustrate please try this url http://www.rgsmiths.com/ths/FBTestOK.html

I have tried various Flex Box settings and page settings, found no fix..
including the "Include Visibility (RWD)" checked or unchecked,
found with right click on the Flex Box object in the Object Manager...

So... Have I missed something?

Thankyou again for all you are doing...
Roy

This is not a bug.

when you use layout grids, the software will automatically add mobile viewport code, because layout grids use media queries.

Code: Select all

<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0">
when you use flexbox this code is not added, because flexbox does not use media queries unless you add breakpoints.

Pablo,

Thanks for the reply... glad it is not a bug
perhaps it could be something to add to flex Boxes in future releases?

Pablo,

While considering Flex Boxes and Layout Grids.. 2 thoughts to possible improve

1 I have noticed they do not offer Tabs for Shadows
have to use Object HTML Custom Styles to add them..

2 and that when I add Style>Backgrounds Gradients...
there is a small transparent area between bottom of background and added border

so are these somethings that could also be addressed in future releases?

Can provide examples if needed..

Roy

1. The main purpose of a flex container is for alignment. I didn't think shadow would be useful. The shadow would be outside the viewport in most cases, right?
But you can post suggestions in the 'Suggestions' section of the forum so other users can let me know if they find it useful too.

2. Maybe you did not enable 'use CSS for gradients' in Tools->options->HTML?

Pablo,

#1 for my use Flex Box Shadows for bottom edge, but for Layout Grids, 4 sided shadow/blur makes content pop on page
simalar to Text boxes... so would be useful to not have to add shadow under the Object HTML>Custom Styles...
using this line to get my results now for Flex Boxes
box-shadow: 3px 3px 4px 1px Grey
using modified form of this as needed elsewhere

#2 previous, your response is correct and setting Tools>Options>HTML>Use CSS3 Gradients... Fixed it!
Thank you very much, another cosmetic issue you have solved for me...

My best regards,
Roy

Thank you for your patience..

Here is a pic of progression of tries to get what was wanted from a Flex Box config...
for your consideration of the issues already mentioned... and with only thought being
to help you understand what I've been able to do but only with the Custom Style...
