Is the panel layer responsive?

Post by crispy68 » Sun Jan 21, 2018 8:50 pm

per this thread: viewtopic.php?f=59&t=75848&p=379522&hil ... 72#p379522 it says the panel layer is responsive.

I've inserted a panel layer to slide from the left in the default layout with a width of 350px.

In my breakpoint of 360px, I set the width of the panel layer to 260px wide. All looks correct in design.

When previewed, the panel layer stays at the default 350px width in all layouts. Am I missing something?

The panel's content is responsive, but not the panel's width.

In the next version, the panel will have more responsive functionality.

Thanks Pablo,

I was looking at the css code where it set the container width as follows:

#Layer1_Container{width:260px;} and if i added:

#Layer1_Container, #layer1_panel{width:260px;}

in each BP, it worked as expected.

It looks better when the panel menu is wider on a wide screen monitor and the size can get skinnier as does the screen size.

Will this be in a major release or upcoming minor release? Any ETA on that? :)

It is planned for a major release.
There is no release date, but note that version 12 is just a few month old and the average development time of a new version is 15 - 18 months.

Pablo,

Is there a way currently within WB to have the panel layer toggle similar to the panel menu? For example, If I put a menu button on the panel layer and when clicked it scrolls to another spot on the page, the panel layer stays open (with panel menu there's the option to close menu on click link).

I noticed if I add 'toggle:true' in the .js for the panel layer then it behaves similarly.

If not, is this something that could be considered in the future update as well?

In case of the panel is logic behavior to close the menu when you click a link, however for a panel menu there is no way for the software to know when to hide layer.
If you need specific behavior then you can use event to hide the layer.

The 'toggle' option is only useful if there is a dedicated button associated with the layer (like in the panel menu).
