Layout Grid - Horizontal Alignment

Post by girija.mahapatra » Wed Nov 01, 2017 6:23 am

Layout Grid - Horizontal Alignment is set to "Left" by default. If I change to "Center" or "Right" and save it, it doesn't save the change. It is again set to "Left".

Girija

Did you select a column first?

It seems to work correct. I use this functionality daily without any issues.
Please describe the exact step to reproduce this behavior.

1. Drag n drop a Layout Grid.
2. Delete one column, select column and select Horizontal alignment "Center" and click OK
3. Add an object like Test box inside and save -> Preview.
4. The Textbox is displayed in the left end, not center.
5. Selecting the textbox and arrange at Center makes no difference.
6.

Please note that text is always 100% of its container (full width), so centering the column does not have any effect in this case.
The alignment of columns only has effect on inline-block elements (not full width).
If you wish to center the text itself then you should apply the alignment to the text.

1. It works normal in a Layer, but not in Layout grid.
2. Aligning text to center won't work as it will center in the text box, not at (0,0) coordinate of the given page width. So it will be out of alignment relative to the page.
3. It work even in Content place holder, only Layout Grid container gives this problem.
4. Also there little way to control page width by (%) percentage of the page size in this tool, either it is absolute size by pixel or Full width, so workarounds are tedious.

I'm sorry but it is unclear what you are trying to to do. However there no problem, it works as designed.
Also I am not sure how this is related to a content place holder or layer, those are completely different features which have nothing to do with the layout grid's alignment.

Please describe in more details what you are looking for, so I can try to help you.

I found a workaround, instead of using Layout Grid I used normal layer in Header/Footer mode and it placed the test box aligned to (0,x) position of page width while the layer took full page width.

It will help greatly if we can have a % size feature for object along with absolute size feature that we already have.

Thanks for your time, appreciate

I don't think using percentages is not useful in modern web design.
If you want flexible layouts then you can use layout grids or flexbox.
