Inconsistency in Layout Grid objects

Post by petertj » Wed Oct 18, 2017 9:51 am

Version in use WWB 12.2.1 (3 Oct 2017)

Please download the WWB file from www.petertj.com/wysiwyg/index4learnus_test.wbs

This is the home page from www.learnus.co.uk which is, for test purposes, published at www.petertj.com/wysiwyg/index.html. The original suffers from the same problem - as described below.

Problem
The vertical margins between most of the blocks in the 3rd column from the left are generally bigger (by about 20 points) than those on the two leftmost columns (1 & 2).

I am hoping someone can explain why.

Appreciate your interest.

Where exactly on the page do I need to look?
Which specific blocks (ID) are you referring to?

Hi Pablo,

Looking at the page that I put up on the petertj.com site it seems clear that the lines, used as spacers, between the "Cambridge Neuroscience" text 3, and "The Cognitive Neuroscience of Socioeconomic Status (SES)" (text16) block should be the same distance apart as "The Teenage Brain" conference Image6 block is from "The Impact of Touch Screens".

Both 'spacer' lines are set at 10 as are all the 'spacer' lines but differ considerably when published. In particular, the spacer lines are mostly too big in the third column.

Thanks for not describing the page as a mess - well so far.

kind regards

Peter

The problem is that you are no using the same type of spacers.
The spacers in the third column are empty text objects, not lines. The height of those spacers depends on padding of the text's container.
I recommend to use the same type of spacers everywhere.

Thanks Pablo,

I was clearly foiled by looking at two apparently/ostensibly identical objects.

Am grateful for your assistance.

regards

Peter
