[rz] Sticky Object *** UPD 2018-Jun-17 ***

Post by [RZ] »

[rz] Sticky Object v1.1.1

The most reliable and lightweight cross-browser, cross-platform and backward-compatible solution
to have sticky objects with advanced relocation features.

- Nine possible positions
- Additional horizontal and vertical offset values
- Objects overlap control
- Sticky objects margin for additional overlap control
- Min-top and min-left virtual properties for lateral sticky objects

DEMO

HTML 4.01 Transitional
W3C compliant

* New in version 1.1.1

- Improved handling and support for pages with floating schemes.

* New in version 1.1

- Smaller and more efficient core; many portions were rewriten to comply deprecation policy changes in Chrome and FireFox.
- The core has been moved to an external file for a faster navigation between pages.
- Improved RWD handling.

How to use?

1. Drag and drop any object (text, image, shape, layer, carousel, etc) you want have to be fixed (like in native sticky layers).
2. Open its properties dialog.
3. Enter the id of the object you want to have fixed.
4. Setup the position in the browser.
5. Optionally, setup offset values, boundaries, etc.
6. Preview or publish; then, resize your browser and scroll the page contents to see how the sticky objects behave.

Enjoy!

thank you for your post
first of all, i want to clear up an important point
the extension that you are referring to, was not built by me, i don't want people get confused because of this
an online demo is available so as you can see how objects can be aligned
the sticky object can be on top of your whole design or can be fixed without touching the design, this means, outside the design margins
so in your image, the yellow object should be on top...

** EDIT **
i did a test, similar to the image you posted
and yes, the sticky object can optionally be on top of the menu or outside the margins
(just guessing what you may have in the image...)

i'm really sorry about the "floor"... the paypal fees are huge for small purchases, unfortunately for the buyers' side, i do not qualify as a small seller
i'm pretty sure you fill find cool stuff in the eshop, there are weekly updates!

please post a link so as i can try to understand what happens...
(anyhow i'm pretty sure that your issue is unrelated to the extension itself)

i cannot test it in ie, returns with an unrecoverable fatal error and ie halts and quits itself
i do not see any issue in chrome
the html has many errors, do not name objects starting with numbers
seems that the embed approach may cause issues in some browsers, however, i cannot test it in ie; i would correctly name objects and retry again...

sorry, but using the same jpg as a screenshot won't help
here is the screenshot at my end
besides the ie error in the app, all is rendered correctly
perhaps you are seeing a cached version
delete the cache and the history and try again

i do not and cannot know what happens at your end, but at my side works fine and there is no z-index issues
the only easy and quick workaround is that you isolate the embed in a (sub) page and in your main page put an iframe instead
then set the iframe pointing to that (sub) page that has the embed to the pdf
(and please do not blame on the function "stickybad" because it works fine! - please also note that you are using an html4 doctype and embed is officially supported in/from html5)

i already gave you an explanation and a workaround to solve this at your end
if it works fine at my end, i do not see any issue to solve... i am both trying to guess and help

perhaps can also help moving the embed object back in the z-order
you can do this moving back that object in the wb objects manager panel

please send a sample problematic project file (only to demonstrate the issue, a full project is not needed) to the address from where you received the extension

thank you very much for clearing this up to avoid confusions
the <embed> tag when pointing to a pdf opens the installed reader instance and each browser behaves different in that case
some put it over all of the other html objects in the page, even if you open it via the inlineframe method
thank you again for your kind words

you stick the object you want wherever you want
just take a look at the online demo - although it is a bit old, you can easily get the idea
